Remember Cheyenne’s PEDESTRIAN Mall!? - Old Town Mall (Cheyenne, WY)
The Old Town Mall was a pedestrian mall located in downtown Cheyenne oriented with pedestrians in mind; it replaced one block of Carey Avenue that later converted back to a one-way street. *Former site of Ferguson Street!*
In the 1960s and 70s, Cheyenne decided to convert one block Carey Avenue, former Ferguson Street, into a pedestrian mall. In the day it featured green space, a sheltered picnic area, and some form of tree house. Sometime during the years of 2008 and 2009, the pedestrian mall was demolished and replaced once again by Carey Avenue. Today, many tables sit along the edge of the rather extremely calm and underutilized street.

Standby News brought this topic to my attention. Digging into the county planning website, there are site plans for a Scooters that includes demolishing the Fireworks Outlet that features Black Cat brand. This is just south of the Sonic Drive-In on S Greeley Hwy.

Blue Federal Credit Union purchased the Cole Shopping Center towards the end of 2018 with plans to replace the now defunct shopping center with NEW RETAIL and their first world Headquarters!
As much as we all would like to save things from the past, the Cole Shopping Center was dilapidated after over 50 years of use, so it was better to be demolished. Blue FCU, which started as Warren Federal Credit Union around the same time as the Cole Shopping Center, decided it was time to build a new headquarters building which will house hundreds on hundreds of new job opportunities.

Topper Pizza has been all over the US, from Illinois to Colorado to Wyoming and even Wisconsin! Today, we look at Cheyenne's now closed Toppers Pizza that just got taken over by Hambone's Pizza.
I stinking miss this place! Not tried Hambone's yet, but Toppers' Pizza beat Dominoes imo in taste and quality. They also had delicious chicken wings and bread sticks known as "Topperstix!"
Toppers opened in this add-on part of the Dineen Building in 2017 and unexpectedly closed at the end of Septmember 2019. The same happened by the end of the year for the rest of the Wyoming AND Colorado Locations.
Since Hambones Pizza opened in Cheyenne, they also opened in Laramie, Wy's former Toppers Pizza location.

The abandoned Old School Pizza Hut (Yum Brands) in Cheyenne, Wy relocated in 2009. Grant Farms opened the nursery surrounding the building, but it is also GONE TOO Now!
Timeline:
1973 - Pizza Hut opens at this location.
1982 - Grant Garms opens it's nearby plant shop.
2009 - Pizza Hut relocates to South Greeley Highway between Dec 24 and Dec 26.
2013 - Main Grant Family Farms company files for bankruptcy. Since this location hardly relied on the farm, it stayed open.
2017 - Reduced popularity and lower quality lead to this Grant Farms closing, leaving all three properties vacant.
