Phantom Pain Chronicles VII: Phoenix Captures The 40th Commanders
We've experienced the story that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has to offer at this point, but what if the events of that part of the memorable franchise was different than you remember? What if things were a bit different, with somethings happening from what we know and thus can have even the smallest of effects on the main plot as a whole.
Mission VII: After Venom Snake recovers the Honeybee, Phoenix is given a mission while out in the field to apprehend or kill three commanders from the 40th Army as in recent days, reinforcement Soviet troops have begun reinforcing outposts and guard posts around the region....

Mission XII: After capturing Quiet, Phoenix returns with DD to Afghanistan and heads to Serac Power Plant in order to find out if Huey legit wants to meet with him and any other Diamond Dogs personnel, only to discover that not only was Huey working with Skull Face on a new Metal Gear, but it seems that things aren't gonna go according to what was originally promised. Seeing that things were different than expected, Phoenix decides to return to base while leaving another to apprehend Huey in his place.

Mission IX: After Xanthos's raid on the Soviet forces weakened their strength in the region, Kallista gets her own chance to strike at the communists when she is deployed to Afghanistan to intercept a tank commander hoping to reinforce the Soviet forces at Da Smasei Laman Fortress.
Through the magic of Jedi Academy modding, the mod known as Movie Duels, and my own improvisations to an otherwise at best mediocre plot that relies more on nostalgia rather than substance to get people to read/watch it, I show what I believe what TFA and the entirety of the Disney Trilogy should be.
Notes: Changes are as follows, with a small backstory for each.
1. Ben Solo is now a variation of Ben Skywalker. His father and mother are the same as his EU counterpart, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade Skywalker. Ben wears an outfit that is a callback to Darth Revan, whom he has come to admire in similar fashion to his DT counterpart's fascination with Darth Vader, but not nearly as much of a creepy fashion with this fascination as he and Revan aren't related. It's more of an ancient hero fascination that Ben has here.
2. Rey isn't some hidden Palpatine via retcon to an otherwise bad retcon with TLJ. Rey is Rey SOLO here. She goes down the same path as Ben did, and she takes a feminine name of Kylo Ren, Kyvo Rin. While she is torn like Ben was, she tries to force herself more blatantly so than Ben does to go to the Dark Side and shun the Light Side out of her. This also kills any Reylo bullshit because this makes her and Ben COUSINS. Spoiler - In TROS, She dies, Ben lives.
3. In the backstory, Jedi Academy happens as normal, however the Dark Side ending (with Rey supplementing Jaden) occurs. Jaden is also a female in this timeline and is Ben's love interest. While she is mostly the Jaden Korr we know from Jedi Academy and few EU materials covering the character, events force Jaden to take a more prominent role in the spotlight, including helping Ben.
4. Anakin's saber in this continuity has a green blade, with the backstory being that Anakin wanted to honor Qui-Gon Jinn by using the same saber color as him, even though it's usually a color of Jedi Consulars while as Anakin is like Obi-Wan, a Jedi Guardian. This is a smaller touch, but it does make sense as Qui-Gon was the father figure that Anakin needed, but was stripped of before he could help him down the path he could have taken.
Hey. It's better than what we got.

Mission VI: After Phoenix captures the Spestnaz Commander, the C.I.A has come to Diamond Dogs with a particular job. Entrusting a special type of missile launcher to the Mujahadeen, the group with the weapon all were but wiped out, save for one survivor. Having been behind the scenes for too long, Venom Snake decides to take up the mission personally in order to get back into the field.

Mission VIII: After Phoenix captures the three Soviet commanders, Xanthos is deployed to aide the Mujahedin in attacking the communist forces in order to weaken their war effort in Afghanistan. Needless to say, Light was eager to take on this opportunity due to his immense hatred of the communists as a whole.

Mission I: After nine years in a coma since the Ground Zeroes Incident, Phoenix awakens in the same hospital that he and Big Boss were sent to being attacked by the same force that attacked Mother Base: XOF.
Notes: Brad "Phoenix" Marvin was originally a soldier in WW2 whose platoon was well known throughout the European theater, and as a result of their endeavors the U.S Government made them part of the black op experiment "The Fountain of Life" project. Unfortunately, the project ended with his entire platoon dying from the experiments while he was the only one whom survived, seemingly "rising" from the ashes after being assumed dead along with his platoon. As a result of his miraculous returning from the dead, he was given the nickname "Phoenix" due to how he returned. It is because of those said events and the Fountain of Life Project that while he still looks to be in his twenties, he is actually in his 60s as the experiment maintains his youth in order for him to fight longer than the average human. It is also because of said experiment that his face is covered in scars and his left eye is a reddish color whereas it was originally blue like his right eye.
In the early 1950s, the woman whom was known as "The Boss" took an interest in him and another man whom would later become known as "Big Boss", taking them both under her wing and teaching them the fighting methods that would later become known as CQC. Phoenix participated in both the Virtuous Mission and Snake Eater alongside Naked Snake, however he could only watch as John pulled the trigger on The Boss. Disillusioned from the U.S like the newly christened Big Boss was, Phoenix left the U.S military to join the Patriots alongside Snake and their former commanding officer Zero, only to leave again with Big Boss when Les Enfant Terrible was discovered by the both of them, which resulted in them both creating the MSF Organization after the San Heronimo Incident in 1970.
In 1974, Phoenix participated in the Peace Walker Incident, aiding Big Boss and the MSF in putting down Hot Coldman's A.I driven rampage, then stopping Paz from stealing the group's Metal Gear, Zeke. A year later, Phoenix went alone with Big Boss to the "Black Site" Prison in Cuba to rescue both Chico and Paz, only to discover that the entirety of MSF was being obliterated due to a trojan horse attack by XOF. The vain attempt of Paz's sacrifice in the events that followed resulted in both Phoenix and the Medic that would eventually become Venom Snake being seriously injured, with both losing their left arms although Phoenix was much more luckier than Venom was in terms of avoiding shrapnel.
In this version of Phantom Pain's events, Venom Snake awakens BEFORE Phoenix does, working behind the scenes getting Diamond Dogs up and running all while the real Big Boss stays behind in Cyprus to help him escape the XOF attack.

Mission IV: After Xanthos rescues the Bionics Specialist, Shade Vetlana, codenamed Kallista, is sent to Afghanistan in her own trial by fire with a mission to send the Soviet forces into disarray by sabotaging the Eastern Soviet Communication Outpost.
Notes: Shade "Kallista" Vetlana is another pivotal role in this story. Born to a British Intelligence operative and a refuge from Eastern Germany, she spent most of her early life hearing horrible stories that her father went through living in the Soviet controlled part of Germany, including losing his best friend to get over the wall that blocked the west and the east. Wanting to make sure nobody goes through what her father did ever again, she joined the British S.A.S and became one of the first women members of the group in 1983.
A year later in early February, she was part of the U.N taskforce that was to join up with other N.A.T.O forces in Afghanistan, the same unit that Light was a part of. Ambushed by a mysterious force that they would later learn to be the Skulls, she and Light fought desperately to survive while their friends and allies were beings slaughtered, somehow making it through together despite the incredible odds. Both of them were heavily wounded, thus resulted in their transfer to the Cyprus Military Hospital where Big Boss, Venom Snake and Phoenix were.
A chance encounter with Big Boss earned her and Light not only the chance of a lifetime, but ironically a chance to save their lives. Big Boss saw their potential and told them that they could be better, that they could change the world to be what it truly was meant to be. He even revealed his identity to them, only making sure that they were the only ones that knew. After considering his offer, they accepted, which also saved their lives as they were transferred out of Cyprus just a day before the XOF launched their attack.
Heading to the Seychelles, Light and Shade both got into contact with Big Boss again before he headed to Afghanistan to save Kaz, where he taught them both everything he knew in regards to CQC, even giving them their codenames. With a new resolve and a new purpose, the two lovers whom had a brush up with the XOF's Skull Unit has a chance to take their own revenge for their fallen comrades.

Mission II: After Big Boss and Ocelot aide Phoenix in escaping Cyprus and bring him to the new Mother Base in Seychelles, Big Boss and Ocelot head to Afghanistan in order to rescue Kazuhira Miller, whom was captured by the Soviets after a mysterious attack wiped out his group during a routine mission in the region....
Notes: One of the plots that always got me in a pet peeve is how Big Boss just ups and leaves his former friends in the dark in regards to Venom Snake and making his actual Outer Heaven (Zanzibar Land). I know that IRL, TPP's development time and thus time to tell it's story proper was strained due to the conflict between Konami and Kojima, but I don't honestly believe Big Boss would have just upped and left without at least paying back Kaz for everything he did for him.
And what better way to pay Kaz back than by at least rescuing him from the Soviets before heading off to create Zanzibar Land. One last mission in the field before he goes down the path that takes him to the endgame in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Mission X: After Kallista captures the Tank Commander, Light and Shade continue their scouting of the Soviet Outposts when the both of them are contacted by Diamond Dogs to rescue a prisoner from Lamar Khaatte Palace.
Notes: Since MGSV isn't co-op (that would have been great if it was), I had to improvise with a few things. As a result, the finished product isn't completely perfect, but it passes as to the illusion that Light and Shade are in the same area and on the same mission together.
