America's most scenic single highway connects us with Mexico and Canada and along the way treats voyagers to eye candy like no other route can.
Forget California THIS is the American Scenic Road Trip!
Video 1 (this one) covers Arizona.

This quick update just addresses a minor nuisance that occurs when shifting into 2nd or 4th gear, and talks about what's right and wrong with a short shift kit.

Sorry I recorded this in portrait, it was just to show a small Montero enthusiasts group what they could expect from these 6G7x engines if they're maintained.
There's nothing special about mine except I fixed the leaks, that's it. I also use Mobil 1 5w30 (not the high mileage one, not the 15k miles one.. just the regular one) because I think it's good stuff. Everyone has their preferences so use whatever you think does the trick for you.

This is just a driveway static load test - I'm not in a hurry to go deliberately smash them into rocks but this gives a good indication of how much the sliders deflect toward the body of the vehicle when loaded with the full weight of half the vehicle.

These aren't exactly winter tires!
Also it's weird how good this Jay Allen country pop song mixes with an Indian wedding song..

I had a little spare time to do maintenance today so I dropped the pan on my 2015 Ram 1500 with the 65RFE transmission to change out the six year old fluid, filters and install a new Mag-Hytec aluminum pan.
This is not a how-to video, just showing what to expect from the fluid condition in a healthy & low-mileage automatic transmission. The color of the transmission fluid and the accumulation and type of wear material present in this video can be used as an example of normal & healthy so if you see a similar amount of material in your transmission it not a cause for concern just normal operation.
This transmission and truck have just over 40,000 miles and I have owned the truck since new. Roughly 2000 of those 40k miles were spent towing in excess of 3500 lbs and the truck has been used a bit off-highway throughout the Western states and completed three cross-country treks. A little bit of stump pulling and dump runs but no commercial duty or abusive operation.
There is no tuner or any other drivetrain modification on this truck. 5.7L Hemi, 3.55 axle ratio.
I'm sure some people call this kind of maintenance unnecessary but nobody ever replaced a transmission because the lubricant was too clean. I expect to have this truck a long time and this was a good opportunity to install the aluminum high-capacity pan I picked up a couple years ago.
This would be the same on a 545RFE or 45RFE or 68RFE transmission.

Last fall I installed the first performance modification on the Rumrunner 1996 3.8L V6 Mustang - a true dual exhaust from @PaceSetterHeaders and @FlowmasterInc - today I get to share with you how that all worked out, recap last season's fun and let you know what we're doing this year.
The Pacesetter dual exhaust adapter is here: https://amzn.to/3mjlige
The Flowmaster Force-II exhaust system is here https://www.holley.com/products/discontinued_product/parts/17114
You can use any Mustang GT cat-back with the Pacesetter dual exhaust adapter - just remember that the years "split" a year earlier than the body style changed, so GT exhausts are the same 94-97, and then from 98-04 . I know it's confusing, sorry but that's how Ford did it.

In this video I demonstrate that a strut tower brace for a SN95 GT Mustang fits on a V6 Mustang and that it's plausible it may improve the stiffness of the chassis in the real world.
