After giving up and getting her OWN tree.....well....being siblings that wasn’t good enough. Now THAT tree was the most wanted tree in the forest. Of course! (Anyone with children knows this)....and so the battle continues.

Our little black bear cub is doing well. Finally putting on a little weight. As you can see, she sure could use a nice brushing....but since she is a rehab-and-release bear we of course don’t interact with her in any way. But she is still doing well and we zoomed our camera to try to get you some video of her.

Now he gets a carrot. I can't stand it. It's just as cute as the broccoli. These two will be released soon. Since one is younger than the other, we are holding the older one a little longer than necessary so that they can be released together. We do set up a feeding station and continue to let them come and go in their old habitat until they gradually move out and off on their own. So we don't just kick them to the curb! We always try to do a gradual release with all animals so they can leave at their own pace.

Susan and Jim often give the bears toys to play with that make them think and use their paws and claws to get a treat. Watch how Amy spins it to get out a peanut, or a marshmallow, or a piece of chicken jerky. She’s a pro!

I know that the big question for everyone is "How is Judy doing?" And I want to give you an update on her. First, I want to say again how grateful we are for how much everyone cares.
Judy has been slowly improving. Not a GREAT amount, but marginally. She can move her front paws pretty well, and has some strength in her back legs as well, but not enough to stand up or walk. There have been a lot of tests and treatments and imaging done for her and at this point it has been a "wait and see" status. We have another week to go to see if the treatments she has had thus far are enough to make her well again, but there is ALSO a chance that she might need surgery. They did find some issues with her spine that might be relieved with surgery. We should know more in another week or so, so unfortunately I don't have more of an update for you than that. However, she HAD not been eating and now is eating again and has a good appetite, which is a HUGE relief, and she seems to be more active and alert than she had been. She is also being TERRIBLY spoiled and catered to and loved on, and she very much enjoys snuggling in her warm blankets and comforters.
