Mario is, without a doubt, the hardest opponent thus far and unfortunately, we have to play him on one of the hardest courses in the game. Just because Mario's Star is an overall tough course does not mean that Mario will be at all fazed. In fact, expect to be doing an amazing job putting you on edge for most of the match. The AI is truly not playing around anymore and you will need to bring your best game if you want to take the win from the plumber and FINALLY unlock him in 1-Player modes. The scary part of this all? The main reason WHY he's tough is because of his rather intimidating damage output. He hits VERY hard with just his physical attacks, but Life Force will certainly help out with that. Definitely keep yourself healed up as he will kill you quickly if you're low on HP. His magic spells aren't too much of a problem thankfully, but he DOES buff himself. You don't want that at all! So be sure to have a Dispel Magic at the ready for when he uses Capricious Wing and other buffs. A good strategy to have is to pelt him with Wind spells of your own, preferably with your strongest magic users and focus on healing when you're under 1/2 of your HP. Definitely keep a Trinity Act under your belt for when you need to finish him off. The attacks you WILL need to watch out for are Dark Flames and Dragon's Charge. Dragon's Charge does a LOT of damage and will set you up to be picked off by a stray attack if you're not already dead. Dark Flames is a true terror as it can leave a serious mark on you and can cause SICKNESS on you. Sickness is VERY bad, as it will prevent you from healing until it is removed or when you're dead. Last but not least, he will use Dispel Magic on you and Anti-Magic Field (which will nullify spells cast on him).
