? #544 Agilent E3646A Display Board Repair - Rotary encoder and U7 N80C51BH 34401-88804 Failure
I repair an Agilent E3646A power supply which has display board issues, a faulty rotary encoder, and a failed U7 N80C51BH microprocessor.
The display board needed to be repaired as the rotary encoder failed, and U7 N80C51BH 34401-88804 failed too due me to slipping with a probe!
I dismantled the encoder and cleaned its contacts which restored its operation, and then I programmed a new Atmel AT89S51 microprocessor using a TL866II programmer and PLCC44 adaptor for the correct 34401-88804 firmware to replace the failed N80C51BH (U7).

This video is about my Toyota Coaster 1996 motorhome, which had a fault with he oil level indicator.
The oil level indicator kept lighting up, even though the level was OK, it has done this randomly for the past couple of years, but over the past few months it has come on a lot more.
I investigated how much a new sensor would cost, NZ$465 !
So after picking myself up off the floor I decided to leave that as a last resort and dig deeper first.
I first put a jumper link on the sensors plug to be sure the sensor was the fault, the issue went away, so I knew the sensor is the problem, and not a broken wire.
I had to wait until doing an oil change before I could pull the sensor out (as it is located in the sump).
After cleaning it up I was testing it and found that the resistance was around 30 Ohms, I thought it should be lower than that, as it is basically a reed switch. So I checked the nuts that link the connector section to the sensor section, and found that they were not very tight, they were not loose either though.
After giving the nuts a 1/4 turn the resistance dropped back down to 0 Ohms, so this may of been the problem all along.
I have refitted the sensor, time will tell if it fixed the problem, and if I actually need to spend $465 on a new one or not!
