I read about a small cave along a bike trail that I had ridden, let's try to find it.
For this 1st attempt, I tried following the sparse directions in the thread below:
http://forums.mtbr.com/california-norcal/long-ridge-osp-cave-840946.htmlTwo reasons I missed finding it this first time were that I was going the opposite direction on the trail as compared to the description in the forum post. And secondly, it turns out that a large group of hikers were coming down the trail just before I passed the cave. I pulled off to wait for them and had just started off riding when I passed the location. With clipping into the pedals, getting back to my cadence and all that, I wasn't looking for the cave and rode right past it.
Oh well, there is always next time. We'll load up on a little more technological horsepower for the 2nd attempt...
I like to come up with these "treasure hunt" activities for my long bike rides. It's great motivation to get out and ride that bit farther and you learn a whole bunch about the local area and all sorts of seemingly unrelated stuff. I had never heard of Wallace Stegner or Bodhidharma before I stumbled across a mention of "a cave along some trail".

And as always, thanks for watching
