Parable XVIII for Trombone Solo, Vincent Persichetti
Vincent Ludwig Persichetti (1915 -- 1987) foi um compositor estadunidense, professor e pianist. Nasceu na Philadelphia e era conhecido por incorporar varias ideias novas de composição em seus trabalhos. Ensinou na Juilliard School e teve entre seus alunos os compositores Philip Glass, Lowell Liebermann, Robert Witt and Thelonious Monk.
Sua Parable XVIII faz parte de uma série de vinte e cinco peças compostas para instrumentos solo e formações inusitadas como a Parable XV para trombone, viola e cello.
A Parable XVIII é divida em três partes distintas. A primeira corresponde a um largo com a sonoridade do trombone bastante contida através do uso da surdina. A segunda parte é vigorosa e agitada, concluindo com uma terceira parte em que o andamento largo é reapresentado e a linha melódica suscita tranquilidade.
