The original plan was to just check on the hives resources to see if I needed to start feeding them. After seeing a number of queen cups up in the honey super I figured I better have a quick look in the brood box. There were a few cups but nothing capped on review of the video but bees are sneaky so we could be in for a surprise.
Been a busy few months and with the cooler weather, not as much going on and fewer inspections. Hopefully we'll be into the hives next weekend to check the mite treatment strips and the food stores.

Just showing the modification to and ant barrier I bought on eBay. I don't have a level surface anywhere in my yard and I've been having a bit of trouble getting the hive to the correct level. My solution is to add a jack screw so I can make the adjustments needed. The video ends abruptly because I was done talking over the shooting.
14 day Santorini Hive Queen Fira check. Also changed out the bottom board so both hives have the same bottom board. The girls in this hive are a bit more reactive and gets tagged by one of the bees.
After 4 days I wanted to check on Queen Francesca of hive Frank before the cold weather rolled in to see what progress the bees were making on the sugar plug. Mistakes were made because of my impatience. It's been 3 days since and the activity on the landing board looks ok so I think I managed not to kill her. In the vail I thought there was a lot more bees in flight than what actually was in the air. Nerves got the better of me.
