Phase Alignment Practice at Home with Nathan Lively of Sound Design Live
#212- Understanding what's going on with your sound system can be very difficult without any data. Knowing how to use that data takes practice though & it can seem like a steep learning curve. If you haven't seen Nathan or Sound Design Live online already, it's a great podcast & resource for pro audio knowledge.
Nathan's work building Sound Design Live is all about helping others learn & explore audio through data and repeatable methods. He's got a workshop coming up on March 14 & 15th, 2021, but you should get tickets now if you'd like to attend. Check out Nathan's YouTube Channel & if you subscribe, tell him DcSoundOp sent you.
*This is not a paid ad for Nathan's workshop. He's a friend in the industry & we should all support his work. (Videos are marked as paid promotion since demo & loaner gear often appears in them, even if just in the background. We are required to mark videos where a third party has supplied anything to help make the video, as a promotion, even if it's just on loan.)

#203 - Just a quick one today that might help you speed up you workflow just a little bit. There always seems to be a ton of interest in custom controllers, keyboards & purpose built control devices. I'm a huge fan of them too, but ultimately it all comes back to the keyboard. I've talked about it in video #180 - https://youtu.be/HT2xTe7LIb8 about how controllers must provide some unique benefit to outweigh the time it takes to move your hand away from the keyboard where it is already resting. In practice, I end up using shortcuts and macros far more often than additional controllers.
With that in mind, I am currently working on an update to video #156 - https://youtu.be/cuLtrSRD4Og - and my personal custom external USB controller that you can see in this video. It's the little blue box to the left & it will be getting a few more custom macro buttons here in a future episode really soon.

Jake from Metro Tech takes us on a first hand look at setting up the Neutrik DPRO Dante interface with a Yamaha QL1 console for the first time. Controlling these 2x2 Mic, Line & AES interfaces directly from your console is a huge benefit, and Jake shows us some common pitfalls to avoid along the way.
The 2020 year end giveaway winners have been picked at random from all of the entries & are announced in this video as well. We've reached out via e-mail too to the winners & will be sending out their packages this week. Thanks to everyone who participated, and again to Neutrik & John Huntington for contributing the DLINE interface and the copies of his book.

In this video we take a quick first look at the new SD-104QA four channel output box from Switchcraft. There isn't a ton to say in a first look about a Dante output box, but this one does have a nice combination of features that I've heard you asking for in past comments. Selling for $299 at the time of this video, the SWC-Dante is right in line with Neutrik's NA2-IO-Dline offering.

#220 - This LED video light was on eBay as-is for parts or repair. Can it be fixed and put back into service, or have I just wasted sixty dollars to thrown someone else's trash away for them? Find out in this video and let us know in the comments if you've scored anything good that needed fixing lately?
