Please join me for a special feature with ecologist #Rion #Lerm, co-founder of the #Phalaborwa Natural Heritage Foundation for a conversation on conservation. Sunday August 9th, 2020 at 1200 (EST) / 1800 #Johannesburg.

Rion has spent his entire live around nature. His first visit to #Kruger National Park was at just 9 months of age when his parents took him along. From that first sojourn, he visited Kruger at least twice a year during his primary and secondary school years, where he developed a love of nature and for birds. This early exposure helped him decide what occupation to pursue, as he always wanted to work inside Kruger.

As an undergrad Rion developed a passion for natural sciences. He later completed a Master's degree while employed by the South African Environmental Observation Network: a government organization that focuses on scientific research and research infrastructures that collect long-term data for society. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Ecology that will focus on the distributions of birds inside Kruger National Park.

Rion and a close friend started the Phalaborwa Natural Heritage Foundation NPC and Urban Wildlife Awareness Phalaborwa Facebook group to share their expertise through workshops and tackle local environment-related issues. His entire immediate family is conservation-minded.
