So what can you expect from humbucker magnets? Alnico 2 is a lower output magnet that is smooth and usually has just a bit of warmth. Alnico 5 has more scooped mids and has a tighter low end and provides some bite and sparkle. Alnico 8 is generally between Ceramic and Alnico 5, with quite a bit of magnetic pull, making it punchy with upper mids but a little more warmth than ceramic. Ceramic is quite strong and gives a very bright tone.
