I finally did it, an overland trip from Singapore all the way to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. I took the long way around via Vientiane in Laos and also made sure I had enough time at certain points in the trip to make sure I had some spare time to figure out how things are locally. I started with the famous once daily Jungle Train in Malaysia. I was amazed by Ho Chi Minh City, loved the people of Yala in the deep south of Thailand and had a fun time on board several trains with open doors and windows in Thailand. The longest train trip though was the direct train from Ha Noi to Ho Chi Minh City, a full 36-hour trip!
