? Museum: Voznesensky Center, Closed Fish Exhibition, Reconstruction, Virtual Tour
? Hello, let's go visit the Reconstruction of the Closed Fish Exhibition at the Voznesensky Center

? Closed Fish Exhibition, Reconstruction: Reconstruction of the "Closed Fish Exhibition" by Elagina and Makarevich — the practical part of the laboratory of Yan Ginzburg and Dmitry Khvorostov at the Baza Institute of Contemporary Art. Opened in the fall of 2019, the workshop "Introduction to research-based art" is dedicated to the study of artistic practices related to research in the field of art history.

? The project is devoted to the artistic analysis of the historical and aesthetic context of the exhibition by Elagina and Makarevich, who in 1990 presented a postmodern reconstruction of the socialist realist Astrakhan "Closed Exhibition", which in 1935 united the works of Soviet artists on the theme of the fishing industry.

? Following the logic of reconstruction, and at the same time ironically violating it, the exhibition, in which 20 young artists will take part, reflects different research strategies and ways of interpretation in art, different techniques of homage and citation. The exposition will include installations, art objects, video art, documentation of actions and performances.

? Each hall bears the name of one of the workshops of the Greenhouse Fish Factory in Astrakhan, in which the plein airs of the artists of the "Closed Exhibition" of 1935 were held. The workshop division of the exposition emphasizes the difference in artistic strategies, and also represents the stages of processing archival and artistic materials with which the exhibition participants worked. "Shop for receiving primary processing and transportation of fish" - an introduction to the historical context. "Canning and refrigeration shop" - the production stage at which the art of Elagina and Makarevich is subjected to artistic analysis. “Tin and Can Shop” is the final hall that captures conceptual conclusions and aesthetic intuitions of the exhibition in the form of “critical exhibitism”.

? The exposition also tells about the history of "Fish Exhibitions", demonstrates unique archival materials, sheds light on unknown aspects of the work of Elagina and Makarevich and recreates the archive of the original socialist realist "Closed Exhibition" of 1935.

? Voznesensky Center: is a dynamic art platform dedicated to the latest Russian culture. Inspired by the ideas of the Thaw and the work of Andrei Voznesensky, the Center brings together contemporary authors and iconic names of Russian art, 20th century literature and new texts, conceptual projects and interactive exhibitions and installations.
