This song is dedicated to a sort of genius friend of mine who was a poet, a beat philosopher, psychedelic pioneer and chess master amongst other things. He had a great sense of humor. He used two pseudonyms as a poet. One was 'Papa Sweat' and the other was 'Pixie Storm.' Cracked me up! Guy was also great with a pun. I have no idea if he's still alive. Last seen in Portland, OR. The inimitable Steve Schneider.

From the Beatles Anthology. Since I wound up being a bachelor living alone who barely has any family left, and the ones that are left are on the other side of the country, I made it my Christmas Tradition to play the entire 8 our documentary all day. It has a way of cheering me up. I suppose the Beatles often remind me of Christmastime because often, they'd release a new record just before the holidays for marketing purposes. Every Christmas, my uncle would buy the latest Beatles album and me and my cousins used to wear the record out, playing it over and over and singing in harmony to their music. PS: Listen for the Christmas message at the end. <3
"White Christmas" is an Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting, released in 1942. The version sung by Bing Crosby is the world's best-selling single with estimated sales in excess of 50 million copies worldwide. When the figures for other versions of the song are added to Crosby's, sales of the song exceed 100 million.
Accounts vary as to when and where Berlin wrote the song. One story is that he wrote it in 1940, in warm La Quinta, California, while staying at the La Quinta Hotel, a frequent Hollywood retreat also favored by writer-director-producer Frank Capra, although the Arizona Biltmore also claims the song was written there. He often stayed up all night writing. One day he told his secretary, "I want you to take down a song I wrote over the weekend. Not only is it the best song I ever wrote, it's the best song anybody ever wrote."
