Hong Kong Vlog: Playing with the kids and fixing my car
The kids were home for the Easter Holidays so we went for a hike before a weird Japanese warning message popped up on my car requiring a massive quest for brake fluid. Hopefully it all will work out.
So there were two events at the White House, but I wasn't credentialed to either one so we just went for a walk around downtown and checked out a few things. Managed to catch Biden's motorcade leaving the Hilton and the King of Jordan arriving to the White House, but missed the carjacking at a school by a few moments.

PenguinSix is an apolitical guy in a political town who likes to walk a lot. He has hiked over 17,000 miles (27,000kms) in the past six years and is still walking today. He is an American expat who spent the last decade in Hong Kong with his family and is now back in Washington DC, continuing his daily ritual of taking very long hikes around the city catching the sights and sounds of the city while live streaming to share with others. History, culture, life as an expat (with reverse culture shock), and the pitiful Chinese food in Washington DC are regular topics of discussion. Your messages this week have asked what is going on at the U.S. Capitol building with the large white plastic covering the scaffolding and fences. Well we've shown this a few times this month, but as many of you are new I decided to go out and take another look so you can see yourself. I also caught Joe Biden entering Holy Trinity church in Georgetown tonight, fresh off his trip to the Middle East (he got back about 1:00am).

Pretty boring day today so I thought we'd go around town and take a look at a few things. We visit the White House and see the Avenger missile battery atop the roof, along with a now regular visit to the fence (hint: it's still there). We then go for an adventure in Virginia, spinning out by the CIA headquarters with a short stop at Fort Marcy, where White House Counsel Vince Foster died. I then give you a closer look at both the Russian and Ukrainian embassies, both of which pretty much like they normally do. And of course we got some lunch.

Today, for the first time in literally decades, I was back on Capitol Hill walking around the House Office Buildings where I used to work. I managed to check in on my old offices (the physical rooms where I used to work) but other than that most things have changed a bit. I did take a few tunnels between the office buildings, and managed to show you the Congressman's subway train that runs to the US Capitol. We also saw a number of motorcades zipping around downtown, such as the Dutch PM Mark Rutte who was in town visiting Biden, along with a look at one of the relics of the George Floyd protests next to the White House finally being repaired after a couple years.

A quick bike ride around Washington D.C. on an otherwise uneventful day. A ride down Rock Creek Parkway and then over to the Lincoln Memorial, the Federal Reserve and the White House, with some food afterwards.
