Making a timber batten counter start to finish
Making a counter from start to finish for the Bundoora Homestead Arts Centre's cafe.

The counter was made from plywood and has decorative vertical timber battens that reference the decorative archways located within the space.

I started out by visiting the site and using my iPhone 14 Pro to scan the space and create a 3d model. Once the design was approved I ordered plywood cut to size, and assembled the cabinet with screws. American ash was ripped in to strips and attached to the outside of the counter.

The counter has a couple of neat features like kick plates that are held in place with magnets, a sliding access panel for cable management, and spare shelf pin storage.

Tools used in this video include Festool Vac-Sys, Festool OFK700 trim router, Festool DF500 domino, Mafell MT55cc track saw, Metabo TS 254M table saw and Makita 12v drill / drivers.
