This video was shot before the shop intro, however I didn't want to give away the equiment / shop intro in the move video so I am releasing the video after the intro. The mill is pretty heavy and the skirt around the bottom of the milling machine is thin along the sides and is only thick where the rubber feet are threaded into the base. We tried moving it with just wood blocking and a digging bar used as a pry bar, and made it a few feet over the course of the first day. After deciding that there was a medium risk of damaging the cast iron base by constantly prying on it and introducing a load point over and over, we ended up going with PVC tubing. I tried SCH40 tube first and it sort of worked, however in pretty short order, it cracked. So we went to the local plumbing store and got a stick of SCH80 PVC. This worked great and was very cheap. I cut the 10' stick into 4 pieces that were 2'-6" long and kept feeding them into the front of the machine as they would roll out the back. My trailer has an expanded metal center (because it was a former car hauler and we now use it mainly for sand dune trips) and is only strong where the tubing supports are. Thus we used 4x4 beams to span the expanded metal open portions and made a "road" for the machine to roll on. I dug pits for the trailer wheels to lower the trailer so that the step down from the trailer to the concrete would be minimized which worked great! In hind sight I would have went to Harbor Freight and bought their biggest hoist to pull thier machine but in this case, used what I had. I had to triple up on pulleys to make the setup work but in doing so, the pull in was reduced by 1/3 which made "going slow" for the sake of safety easy.
