Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin Walkthrough On Linux Part 16 Drangleic Castle & Glass Knight
A full commentary walkthrough of Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin played on Linux using Steam Proton.
In this episode I pick head to Drangleic Castle, and defeat the Twin Dragonriders and Looking Glass Knight.
Twin Dragonrider Boss Fight
This is basically the same fight as in Heide's Tower of Flame, but with two opponents, so bear that in mind, other than that, easy fight, and the black one has way less health.
Looking Glass Knight Boss Fight
All attacks will bounce off his shield, even when two handing a weapon, so bear that in mind, other than that he looks intimidating and hits like a truck, but strafe to avoid his attacks and you should be fine.
At about 50% health he will summon a NPC or if you are unlucky, an actual player as a distraction.
This episode was recorded at 1080p 60fps using the NVENC encoder in OBS Studio on Kubuntu 20.10 and then rendered to 1440p using Kdenlive.

In this video I cover a possible fix for Counter Strike Global Offensive (CSGO) crashing on launch when using Ubuntu based Linux distributions.
This issue seems to be related to distributions that have recently updated glibc to 2.34.
Step 1.
First, open a Terminal window and run the following command.
sudo apt install libtcmalloc-minimal4
Step 2.
Next, navigate to the location where the game is installed.
For me this is.
/home/ryan/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/bin
Within this location, open a new Terminal window and run the following.
cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4.5.9 libtcmalloc_minimal.so.0
Once done, the game should now launch as normal.

Crossbreed Priscilla Boss Fight
A fairly straightforward fight, but the gimmick is that is she is invisible until enough damage is done to her.
You can cheese her by throwing poison knives at her which will indicate where she is, otherwise look at her footprints in the snow.
Dark Sun Gwyndolin
He has three attacks that hit like trucks, so get used to dodging or hiding in the pillars, and once you have closed the distance, hit him as many times as possible before he teleports.
Gwyn Lord of Sunlight
Equip the Hornet ring, block his first attack, and parry his second, then rinse and repeat.

Installing Ubuntu Flavours

To replace Ubuntu 21.04 with Kubuntu 21.04, you would use the following Terminal command:
sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop
Alternatively, for Lubuntu it would be:
sudo apt install lubuntu-desktop
For Ubuntu Budgie:
sudo apt install ubuntu-budgie-desktop
For Ubuntu Kylin:
sudo apt install ubuntukylin-desktop
For Ubuntu Mate:
sudo apt install ubuntu-mate-desktop
And finally, for Xubuntu:
sudo apt install xubuntu-desktop
Depending on the flavour you are installing, you may get a prompt to replace a display manager, so choose the recommended one for the desktop environment.
Once done, reboot your system.
Remove Redundant Software
For example, to remove left over Ubuntu software, you can use the following Terminal command:
sudo apt remove ubuntu-desktop ubuntu-software software-properties-gtk nautilus update-manager gnome-system-monitor

This video covers a method of fixing stuttering when playing games such as Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Dragon Age Inquisition and other games that use the EA Origin client on Linux.
STUTTERING CAUSE
By default EA Origin will periodically write information to files in the Origin folder which causes stuttering in game but this can be easily fixed.
FIX - APPLY READ ONLY PERMISSIONS TO THE ORIGIN FOLDER
For example, for my installation of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, the Origin folder is located at:
/home/ryanj/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1172380/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/
So in the Application Data folder, open up a Terminal and type the following command:
sudo chmod -R 555 Origin
This command will change the permissions of this folder to read only and now Origin will be prevented from writing to that folder, and thus stop the stuttering.
This method should work for all games that use the EA Origin client.
If you need to revert permissions running:
sudo chmod -R 777 Origin
Will give back write permissions again.

Another gank fight, but the gimmick this time is that they can heal each other so try to focus fire equally to avoid this happening.
There is a second stage but for the most part, the Watcher will be the aggressor and the Defender the tank.
Guardian Dragon Boss Fight
Another easy fight as all his attacks have a huge wind up, so just position yourself correctly and you will never get hit.

In this video I cover a method of installing and playing Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars on Linux as well as modding the game.
1. Installation.
Install the game as normal, but make sure to run the game using Proton 5.13-6 as newer versions cause the units in game to be invisible.
All the campaigns and skirmish modes work, but the game will crash if you ALT & TAB out.
The same steps can be applied to install and run the expansion Kane's Wrath.
2. Multiplayer.

For playing multiplayer, I recommend using C&C Online, as the original servers are now shutdown, however this will only work on Windows, and not Linux.
3. Modding

For this video I use build 1.6 Tiberium Essence with the recommended patch.
Once the mod is downloaded, extract the archive and take a copy of the extracted TiberiumEssence folder.
Next, open Steam, right click on the Properties of the game, select the LOCAL FILES tab, and click the Browse button.
From here, navigate to compatdata/24790/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, create a new folder called mods and paste the copied TiberiumEssence inside.
Once done, open Steam, right click on the Properties of the game, select the GENERAL tab and under LAUNCH OPTIONS type -ui.
Now when you launch the game you will be greeted by the launcher window, so click the Game Browser tab, and click the Mods tab.
The mod tab is buggy under Wine, so once you open it once, immediately close it, and try again, this time you will be able to select the mod from the list.
