This is an easy home remedy for Besan ka Sheera. This simple recipe is explained in Hindi and English and is exactly the same way my grandmother would cook it for me when i had cough and cold during winters.

Recipe for Besan ka Sheera
Ingredients :
1 tbsp ghee
2 tbsp gram flour
10-12 almonds
6-7 walnuts (optional)
1 tbsp sugar
200 ml milk
बेसन की शीरा बनाने की विधि
सामग्री :
1 बड़ा चम्मच घी
2 बड़े चम्मच बेसन
10-12 बादाम
6-7 अखरोट (वैकल्पिक)
1 बड़ा चम्मच चीनी
200 मि। ली।) दूध
Method:
1. In a thick bottomed pan, melt the ghee (clarified butter) and cook the gram flour over medium heat for 2-3 minutes till the off smell of gram flour goes away.
2. Slice the nuts in the meantime and add to the cooked gram flour mix.
3. Cook for another minute and then add the milk and whisk till all the lumps disappear.
4. Continue cooking over medium heat for 8-10 minutes till the liquid thickens.
5. Now add the sugar and mix well.
6. Serve immediately with a smile.
तरीका:
1. एक मोटी तली वाली कड़ाही में, घी को पिघलाएं और बेसन को मध्यम आँच पर 2-3 मिनट तक पकाएँ जब तक कि बेसन की गंध न निकल जाए।
2. इस बीच बादाम और अखरोट का टुकड़ा करें और कड़ाही में डालें।
3. एक और मिनट के लिए पकाएं और फिर दूध डालें और सभी गांठ गायब होने तक मिलाएं।
4. तरल गाढ़ा होने तक 8-10 मिनट तक मध्यम आँच पर पकाते रहें।
5. अब चीनी डालें और अच्छी तरह मिलाएँ।
6. तुरंत मुस्कान के साथ परोसें।

This is a fun video recipe of a delicious (and traditional) Sunday special North Indian Nashta. This recipe is also loaded with iron rich ingredients like spinach and coriander.

TAMATAR ALOO with PALK POORI
Serves 2
Preparation time 35 minutes
Cooking time 25 minutes
INGREDIENTS FOR THE SABZI
1.5 tbsp mustard oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 onions, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
salt as per taste
½ tsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
4 boiled potatoes, cut into cubes
METHOD :
1. Heat mustard oil in a kadhai and allow to smoke to remove the strong aroma.
2. Crackle the cumin seeds in it and then saute the chopped onions for 2 minutes over low heat.
3. Now add the ginger garlic paste and continue stirrign on low heat as it tends to stick to the bottom of the pan.
4. After a few minutes, add the chopped tomatoes and cook with a lid on top to release moisture from the tomatoes.
5. Add the dry spices and seasoning followed by cubed boiled potatoes.
6. Cover and cook for another minute so the flavours combine.
7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
8. Serve with spinach (palak) pooris.
INGREDIENTS FOR THE POORI
1 cup whole wheat flour
a pinch of carom seeds
½ tsp salt
½ tsp red chili powder
1 cup boiled spinach puree
1 tsp ghee
Mustard oil to fry the pooris
METHOD:
1. Knead a hard dough with all the ingredients and allow to rest for 10 minutes,
2. Divide into small balls and roll out smoothly.
3. Fry in hot mustard oil and serve immediately with tamatar aloo sabzi.
