Hello! Today we start building our shade house and It's Fridays Daily Vlog, our 5th daily episode. A shade house is a gazebo like structure with the primary aim to give us shade from the sun, keep the rain out, but more importantly to also collect 4000 liters of rainwater. In part 1 we start building the basic strucrure. We are now the proud owners of a stunning off grid property in Portugal, Lobateira, which we've renamed 'The Wild Lands'. We've been searching for our own slice of heaven to start a homestead. We decided to base our search around the Castelo Branco region of Portugal, as the land here is not only beautiful, but far cheaper than the Algarve. Equally, there are many off grid families in the region, and we wanted to be close to a community of like-minded people. We were 'stuck' in the UK (again) since returning to see loved ones over Christmas while we waited for our D7 Visa for Portugal. After nearly 6 months of waiting, we got to leave! This was a mammoth task as we had to transit through France to Spain in 24 hours or less! (see previous videos) Now we've finally bought our own at land in Portugal. Rosie filmed herself making this simple one pot tomato pasta recipe in our tiny van kitchen. She then edited it herself, learning to use Vegas Pro as she went! We think she did an awesome job. Rosie is 11 and is home educated. She plans to create a whole series of videos showcasing her unique vanlife recipes that she will edit herself, as well as presenting our Van Tour series. We have been travelling as a family in our own self built Sprinter campervan conversion for 8 months. We travel with 2 dogs and 2 cats, and work online as we go.
