Today we’re looking at the new Focusrite 2i2 (3rd Gen) USB Audio Interface. If you’re looking for an interface for your home studio and you’re on a budget, this is one of the best options for you. I do spoken word tests, noise floor tests, latency tests, and guitar tests, and it passes with flying colors on all tests

Today I review a budget USB Dynamic Mic, the LyxPro HHMU-10 or HMU-10. This thing is just a USB mic, there’s no latency free monitoring or XLR output. For the price, I don’t think I could justify it since the Q2u is a few dollars more expensive.

Today I review one of the most versatile handheld mics I’ve ever tested, the Lewitt MTP 940 CM. This is a multi-polar pattern handheld condenser microphone with a 1” capsule. It also offers two pads and two high pass filter options. In the handheld condenser market, the self noise is pretty respectable, did a great job at off axis coloration, and did great rejecting background noise.

Today I review the Blue Raspberry; a travel iOS microphone that records up 24-bit 48kHz. This thing is not only compatible with iOS, but also windows and Mac. Given the limited market for iOS microphones, this is a pretty good option, but if you’re a laptop or desktop user, I think you’re better off getting a standard USB microphone.

Today we’re looking at the Logitech Pro X Gaming Headset with Blue Vo!ce. This thing is far from a professional gaming headset. In my opinion the headphones sound is subpar, lacking any kind of life in the upper frequencies, and the low end lacking bass, and if you boost the bass in the software, it becomes loose and muddy. The microphone is a typical headset microphone which sounds terrible, but they add processing to try to fix it with the Blue Voice software.

Today i review probably the most affordable small diaphragm condensers on the market, the Behringer C2's. These cost $60 for a pair, so essentially $30/each. The sound is surprisingly good for that price, but it's not without it's flaws. On some sound sources the bass and low mids can get out of hand, and the treble boost is a bit artificial and harsh. If you're able to work around these issues, for $30/each, I think they're pretty good.

Today I review an iPhone microphone, the iRig Mic Studio, which is an iOS / Android / Mac / Windows compatible microphone. This mic provides clarity that is almost too much, due to the overly boosted high end, causing it to sound slightly unnatural. It records 24-bit 48kHz which is nice, and it does a decent job at rejecting plosives.
