The system we use to learn Runes relates to their nature, and their nature is family, kinship-like. There are 24 Runes in the Elder Futhark, we are studying just the Elder Futhark. The Younger Futhark as well as the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc have a later origin and are associated with the introduction of Runes into christianity. We won’t be studying them as a system, because it is not one. When we will, possibly, reach the point of studying gods and Runic formulas, there, in some cases Runes of the Younger Futhark may be used, but quite rarely. I am not very fond of using them, and I will tell you the reasons for it a little bit later. So, the Elder Futhark consists of 24 Runes and these 24 Runes are divided in 3 aetts. If translated, ‘aett’ means kin, or family. ‘Aett’ or ‘Att’. 3 families of 8 Runes.

I welcome you all to our Wheel of the Year mystery. On this beautiful winter evening, the time of waning of the last element - the element of Fire. And together, we will be seeing it off. Today, on Yule eve, today is our sacred day, the last festivity of the mystery of the Wheel of the Year cycle. And we have come a very long way, which began on Imbolc. And these eight steps, we’ve made these eight steps together, which brought us to our today's lesson, and the mystery itself, as you might already suspect, will be a sort of conclusion, a resultant, in a way. Although, why ‘sort of’, it will actually be concluding and resulting, it will be the outcome of everything that you have done, understood, were able to comprehend and accomplish in relation to your own self and to the surrounding reality. Today we will get the extract of it all, today we will get the result.
And you are deserving of this result no matter whether you have joined the mystery on Imbolc or sometime later. And perhaps some of you amongst us have joined us today for the first time - that makes no difference, because this festivity relates to all of us. Surely, those who understand what is happening in this or other moments, they certainly get more results, they get more effects, because awareness is a key to success, an insurance of good luck. But even if people might lack a certain understanding, sometimes intuitively, implicitly, they felt that on this festivity, on a Yule winter eve, there is something absolutely magical that is taking place.
