Mario Badescu - Steroid Scandal, Class Action Lawsuit- Mario Badescu was sued by over 31 customers, eventually turning into a Class Action Lawsuit regarding two of their products, their Control Cream and Healing Cream (both of which have been discontinued). The brand secretly included undisclosed steroids, which cause skin thinning, withdrawal, and require intensive care after discontinuing the use of these products. 2. Halo Beauty- selling acne pills at 30+ per month… don’t buy into this crap- if you are truly interested in a supplement for acne do some research on zinc, which is actually affordable and researched. 3. Herbivore- fake bakuchiol scandal 4. First Aid Beauty- formula changes, selling in China 5,6,7 Purito, Klairs, Keep Cool- sunscreen issues 8. Goop- sunscreen highlighter, clean beauty marketing, fear based marketing 9. Beauty Bakerie- mystery box scam 10. Drunk Elephant- vitamin c scandal, bashing customers and other brands 11. DHC- ceo comments 12. Naturium- scandal release 13 Youth to the People- Sold to Loreal (also owned in part by Nestle), products have an extremely short shelf life and a high price tag. 14. Tata Harper- Greenwashing, little preservatives, full of fragrance, expensive 15,16,17 Mary Kay, BeautyCounter, Rodan & Fields - MLM scams 18. Truly Organic (now just called Truly) - Sued for actually not being organic. Worse than not being organic, the products they sold were actually overstock products they simply repackaged. 19. Jaclyn Hill- Hairy old lipstick… Need I say more?!?! 20. Sunday Riley- Fake review scandal. making employees write fake reviews while off work is not the ethics I like to see in the skincare community. New Tidal reformulation went bust. 21. Kylie/Kardashian Skincare Brands- not discussing the products directly, but I 100% do not believe they actually use any of the products they make and sell. Neutrogena/ Johnson & Johnson- huge quality control issues here (speaking in terms of Benzene in their sunscreens)- Neutrogena claims to be for sensitive skin, but continually creates products that irritate sensitive skin including fragrance and SLS. 23. Tarte- Tarte is no stranger to controversy. This time the marketing of their termed “natural” products came into question because they did contain… GASP… chemicals and synthetic ingredients. Tarte was fined 1.7 million dollars in the class action lawsuit, which settled very quietly (I did post it so some customers could get money back, up to $400 for some customers. 24. Derma E- Derma E has faced it’s own lawsuits, again, over the use of the marketing term “natural” when their products contain synthetic ingredients. Derma E has also admitted to “accidentally” forgetting to list fragrance in some of their older products. Their Peptide and Collagen Moisturizer was reformulated and the new ingredients apparently contained lavender oil. But they didn't LIST this 25. Grace & Stella- Brand featured often in beauty boxes such as Boxycharm and Causebox .
