The payment company Ripple has a long and strong relation with the banks and financial institutions around the world. Right now, Ripple has a long list of more than 350 banks and financial institutions as its partners. The main reason why banks use Ripple is its technology. It provides payment solutions on a global level and according to the website, RippleNet offers connections to hundreds of financial institutions around the world via a single API and makes moving money faster, cheaper and more reliable for you and your customers. It also helps you reduce, even eliminate, the need to pre-fund accounts with On-Demand Liquidity (ODL)—a service that uses the digital asset XRP to source liquidity during cross-border transactions, as an alternative to traditional systems. To avail this opportunity, another major bank has announced to use Ripple Net for sending and receiving money. Fawry, a banking and payment technology service in Egypt, announced a new partnership with an Egyptian bank. The name of the bank has not been disclosed yet. The announcement came after Fawry received approval from the Central Bank of Egypt. Through this, Fawry will streamline the process for those sending and receiving money and will make Egypt’s remittance revenue more efficient. This program will also make use of Ripple and its blockchain technology. A major reason announced by the company to use Ripple is its security and to make sure there’s no corruption or lost funds. The news of this partnership came when Fawry became Egypt's first tech startup to break a billion dollar valuation. Another reason for this partnership is that the Egyptian government wants to make banking and financial technology development more efficient and profitable with a number of legislative reforms. As we said earlier, the name of the bank that the payment technology service, Fawry has partnered with, has been kept a secret. However many are confident in predicting that the National Bank of Egypt will be the main partner in streamline remittance collection with Fawry. On December 22, 2020, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple. One year later, the crypto industry and investors are still waiting for the lawsuit to come to a conclusion, whether by a settlement or a court judgment. Garlinghouse remarked on the SEC's activities in a series of tweets, claiming that this was an attempt to discourage crypto innovation, not just Ripple. One year ago today, the SECgov filed a lawsuit against Ripple, Chris Larsen, and me, alleging that XRP – a public crypto that has been trading on the open market since 2013 – should have been registered as a security. “Of all the shitty things in 2020, this was certainly one to cap the year Rolling on the floor laughing. Some took the SEC’s allegations at face value/ thought this was a one-off, but no longer” While discussing the legal matter again, the CEO focused on ODL's performance in the third quarter of the year. Garlinghouse claimed that the year was Ripple's greatest ever, citing the fact that the XRP-based On-Demand Liquidity (ODL) feature handled 25% of RippleNet's dollar-denominated activity. In addition, the network saw a 25-fold increase in ODL transactions compared to Q3 2020 statistics, according to him. The number of transactions increased by 130 percent from quarter to quarter. Garlinghouse also noted ODL corridors like Japan and the United Arab Emirates, as well as their central bank digital currency (CBDC) solution, which is powered by a private version of the public XRPL and has partnered with Bhutan and Palau. He emphasized that none of these changes were initiated by him. In truth, the expansion came from other corners of the globe. The Ripple SEC lawsuit also known as the crypto trial of the century plays an important role in the overall crypto industry. The lawsuit has entered another year and it is supposed to finally be over this time. At first, the experts predicted that it will be over by April but now, the case has been dragged a little more but this time, it is a major contribution to what will result in the global XRP takeover. The expert discovery in the SEC v. Ripple litigation has been prolonged for another month, causing more frustration in the digital asset market, particularly among XRP investors and legal advisers for cryptocurrency firms and foundations. Due to the change in timetable, attorney Jeremy Hogan, a key figure in the XRP community, summed it up and concluded that the lawsuit will most likely complete in August or September 2022. There were many predictions about when the lawsuit will be over throughout the case duration. Jeremy Hogan in his first prediction, the lawsuit would end about now: “I don’t see the case being decided at summary judgment until early 2022 – maybe January”, Hogan said in June 2021. Later that year, he updated his forecasts in the wake of two fact discovery extensions, one asked solely by the SEC and the other filed in a joint motion.
