As delays on the homestead continue, I try to prepare for the worst but hope for the best as winter approaches. I moved my converted cargo trailer to the now office/bedroom/storage area to make it more convenient during meal time, and have the every-day items together in one place. It has been a huge improvement in the time spent at each meal. As much as I would like to be moved into the cabin before the freezing temps hit, I have to face the reality that it may not happen. Moving the trailer was a move to alleviate some of the stress and time lost with every day chores, and to make it a tiny bit more pleasant living under these conditions. Rediscovering small items, such as a simple wine bottle topper, provide joy after a long day. :)

While I am not a professional herbalist, I **do** have a passion for medicinal herbs and the role they play from a healing standpoint. Some are *truly* powerful and serve a vital purpose, especially on a homestead that's a bit outside of town. If you ever have the chance to take an herbal course, do it! :)

Mother Nature has kept me on my toes this year! The 30-40 mph winds are at the top of the list. When I heard a loud gust of wind in the #garden I was not prepared for what I was about to see: the bean panel lying on top of my new dwarf nectarine tree :(
One of the limbs was damaged in the form of a small split, but luckily it didn't go all the way through.
Thankfully, there are numerous ways to save and/or graft a branch these days.
What is your tried and true method for saving a broken limb on your plants or trees? Comment below!

I've been wanting to attempt this for awhile, and could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Using scraps I had around the garage from previous projects, I tinkered with making this homemade solar oven to see if it would actually work! And it did!
What's your experience using solar energy? Leave a comment below. :)

Watching Mother Nature has always been a favorite past time of mine, and seeing these little guys come into the world was no exception. I started the nursery in the 1-gallon jar w/ 'cheesecloth lid' about a month ago, placed it in my interior greenhouse that I use for my orchids (at about 70-75 degrees F.), kept the jar in the shade, and waited. Patiently. It was well worth it!
