When Lies Become "Truth" and the Monsters it Makes Us.
Heads up... Dense conversation ahead.
You've been warned.
What do you do when suddenly everything in your culture gets turned around? We're finding more and more people embracing blatant lies thinking it's the high moral ground. As language becomes less expressive, minds are more easily controlled. Wrong is right. Right is wrong. Up is down. Down is up. Babies in the womb aren't actually babies. Men have periods. Men are women. Women are men. At the same time... there are no men or women. Gender is fluid. The color of your skin determines your worth and character. Never in my lifetime did I think this would be considered 'progress'. It ironically hurts more people than it helps, especially those who truly struggle with their sexual identity and those begging to be heard about true injustices. The world hurts the world to help the world. Slavery is freedom. War is peace. Love is hate. This reminds me of Orwell's "Newspeak." This is confusing.
And I think it's supposed to be.
Why?
Power.
Apathy makes people prefer the false peace of conformity to the tensions of liberty. Whatever and whoever has the power can pressure you into believing their version of truth.... even if they're flat-out lies. Anyone who opposes this is viewed as backward and ignorant. We live in a world where there is more and more intense social pressure to accept that there is no such thing as objective truth. There's only power. Whoever holds the power decides what is true and false. The value of truth claims depends on who's making them. More and more people are knowingly believing lies out of fear of opposing them.
Personally, in a few short years, this has been in my face. It's been difficult and confusing to sort out what's happening and trying to understand it in a meaningful and accurate way. It felt messy. It's like you're trying to clean your kitchen, and can handle the regular mess of everyday life. Then suddenly, your kitchen expands ten times bigger and the mess is no longer one you're capable of handling by yourself. It's time for reinforcements who have had MUCH more experience dealing with MUCH bigger messes.
So I handed Greg Koukl his metaphorical mop and broom. I asked Greg on to give me his thoughts on this. As I mention at the beginning of the video, I listen to his podcast, Stand to Reason, regularly. He did one in May that really resonated with me. We discuss things like:
How do we discern truth in this divided world? Are we really entering into soft totalitarianism? What does that even mean? Are we inflating this? With such militant and intense pressure to conform, what can we do about it? And much more.
I walked away from this conversation with a lot of the understanding, perspective, and insight that I've been craving about these topics.
So yeah. This was an interesting interview.

I uploaded this on my channel earlier this year, but I decided to re-upload it in memory of a friend that suddenly and shockingly passed away. I reflected and prayed on the tragedy and the aftermath and decided to write this to reach others and let them know that if there’s anyone out there that has these dark struggles- that there’s hope. True hope that doesn’t fade or let you down. You’re not alone. Jesus didn’t come to Earth to not know how it feels to be human. God became His creation. He’s not a god that is far away, far from suffering and human pain. He entered into this mess, and He’s in your mess. No matter what you’ve done He loves and will forgive you. It’s not an empty victory, filled with endless desolate affirmations and a god that doesn’t know how to handle our mountain of sin or doesn't care about your pain. This is what true victory looks like.
In many ways I wanted this to demonstrate the Old and New Covenants. God became His own creation to pay the just penalty for sin that we could never pay. He took our place, the righteous for the unrighteous. *This* is the atonement. I mean... wow. "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."- 2 Corinthians 5:21.
I filmed this with three different cameras, over six hours of footage. The editing itself was a total rollercoaster, wild and unpredictable. To me, the video is just as much art as the painting itself. I hope you all enjoy it. I worked very hard on it.

New Age in the Church?! Yep. It's been going on for quite a while now. In fact, you'd be shocked to know that a lot of Christians believe in many New Age beliefs and don't even know it. I might make a part 2 to this at some point because I realize that there's a LOT of New Age practices out there. But in putting this video together, these are the top 5 deceptions that I kept thinking about that I see the most in churches today: Law of Attraction, Oneness, Religious Pluralism, Universalism, and Mysticism. In this brief video, I follow up on my previous video about crystals with essential oils. I give my balanced thoughts as best I can about essential oils as an ex-new ager. How spiritually mature are we? Sometimes I don't measure up. Like... at all. I have observed some of the most admirable Christians in my life and have learned so much about Jesus just by watching them. This is the first video for our Train Them Up Series. In this video, you get to meet Jasmine, and we discuss what the Gospel is.
We have outlined the topics, but mostly want to show how we would naturally be when talking together. This is a new experience for us, so what you see is what you get. We’re kinda rolling with this. Jasmine helped with the topics and putting together what she wanted to talk about. She’s very excited to do this. This whole idea came from when I posted months ago about how my children and I do ‘religion club’ on Sundays learning about spiritual topics. It was very simple but effective. People had been asking me to do something like this ever since. This series is made for kids to watch as well, so the editing will be different than my other videos, though if you don’t have kids, this can be very useful on how to make effective talking points with people in general. These are also shorter, and please keep in mind that these topics are purposefully simplified. The point of these videos is to exemplify how I personally talk to my kids about Jesus and spiritual things, not go into deep theological detail. If this goes well, we might do more. I really hope you enjoy this series, and I hope it can help you and your child as well.

What's up with the doctrine of Hell? Many Christians struggle with this concept. Jesus clearly talks about it, and it seems to be a logical end if God is Just. But even then, many people still have questions about it. When I was in the New Age, I believed that pretty much everyone would eventually make it to heaven. I interviewed Clay Jones about annihilationism, universalism, how Hell makes sense with a loving God, and much more.
