Project Looking Glass - The Most Unusual Linux Desktop
Project Looking Glass is a 3D Desktop created by Sun Microsystems between 2003 – 2007, it uses Java 3D to create the desktop. I am looking at a Live CD version from 2006, which unfortunately is so old it pre-dates my oldest system by four years and will not boot. It appears to be an issue with USB which is understandable as 2006 pre-dates inclusion of USB 3.0 drivers in the Linux Kernel.
By Popular Request here we have Pear Linux 6.1 -- A Mac styled Distro based on Ubuntu 12.04.1, that you have to choose your own selection of applications.

Preview of Rebecca Black OS -- ok so it has an awful name, but this distro is based on Kubuntu 12.10 development, and uses Wayland Graphics Server alongside X.Org
This preview was done using Virtualbox running from Ubuntu 12.04
There are a verity of tests included for some QT and GTK apps to function within Wayland. However its by no means suitable for a production system.
RebeccaBlackOS is only available in 32bit and is 1.6GB large.

I purchased a “Neon” light up Penguin from John Lewis for £35. It tuned out to be an LED tube cable tied to a weak metal frame.
Delivery took an excessively long time and the product is out of stock at time of recording.

Tutorial on how to make KDE look and feel like the Ubuntu Unity desktop. Ideal if you like Unity but disagree with Ubuntu's ethics.
I'm using SolydK in this tutorial, but you could use Kubuntu, Mint KDE, Debian, or Netrunner.
Ubuntu based distros:
1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mehanik/ksuperkey
Debian based distros:
1. sudo add-apt-repository 'deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mehanik/ksuperkey/ubuntu saucy main'
2. sudo apt-get update
3. sudo apt-get install homerun ttf-ubuntu-font-family plasma-widget-menubar appmenu-qt kdeplasma-addons libkactivities-dev ksuperkey cmake libkactivities-dev kdelibs5-dev
(For Ubuntu based distros use plasma-widget-homerun instead)
4. Download Yet Another Window Control from http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Yet+Another+Window+Control?content=139916
5. Unzip Yet Another Window Control to your Downloads folder
6. cd ~/Downloads/yawc-0.4/
7. mkdir build
8. cd build
9. cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` ..
10. make
11. sudo make install
12. kbuildsycoca4
Then follow video instructions for setting up Panels and Window Controls
