The Kerbal government favours austerity over stimulus and has slashed funding to the Kerbal's once glorious space program. We don't often see Jeb screaming but he was screaming some terrible things at the administrators when he found out that they had to reduce the number of rockets on their mun launcher. He's currently grounded during an inquiry into a rocket crash which 'accidently' destroyed the lavish home of an administrator.
So a new crew aided by a handful of scientists develop a lighter, cheaper, less safe mun lander and are not entirely surprised when things don't go according to plan.

Having delivered my passenger to Omicron Lyrae I spend some time exploring this new corner of space. I upgrade my ship with better flight software and even find some time to shoot some bad guys.

The developers pushed out an update which means I have to summarise an hours worth of base building, firefighting, pirates and asphyxiation so I can try the new update and risk dying due to starvation or the attention of Killbots.
It didn't go well, gave my builders too much to do so they never got around building the hydroponics tables, and, I didn't realise right away that nutrient paste dispensers could be used before the garden was built.
I am terrible!

It is December and a chill of repression is falling over Artsotzka, with no passports I need to 'borrow' the documents from other individuals so that I may escape to Obristan with my family.

No matter how accurate your optics are there's a physical limit to how accurate an image can be made. To get finer details you need a larger aperture, at the ultimate limit there are ways to combine telescopes around the world to get resolution like it was a single large telescope the size of a planet.

The International Space Station is currently scheduled to come to an end in 2030, but, before then we're hoping that there will be other space stations for humans to visit, from small single module stations like Vast's Haven-1 to the massively ambitious modular Orbital reef. These will move space stations from being government projects to the private sector, ideally in the same way that rocket launches became a commercial operation. The US has 4 leading candidates with Europe, Canada and Japan already making deals, so, humanity's presence in low Earth orbit should continue uninterupted going forwards.
