2012-03-23 In this video I convert a HobbyZone Champ RC Plane from a brushed motor to a brushless power system and then take it for a test flight. Original Champ weight was 37 grams and this one weighs 45 grams, both with no battery.
I am testing a HobbyKing Turnigy 5A 1S Brushless ESC connected to a Spektrum AR6300 receiver and a small 160mah 1 cell LiPo battery.
However this is also a build video because all I have to start with is a Champ fuselage. That's right, I have to make all the wings myself so basically it is a scratch build. This has some handy tips such as how to make a rudder hinge and how to make Z bends for the control rods. There is also a trick for forming dihedral in the main wing.

"The TRUE best answer for using this with 2 aileron servos with mixed in flaps/spoilers is to buy 2 TURNIGY V-Tail Mixer's and add them out of each of the L-ail and R-ail output of the stabilizer and use TURNIGY V-Tail Mixer to mix in separate non mixed raw flap channel from RX with a Y adapter cable each of the Y output cable to each of the other input of the 2 TURNIGY V-Tail Mixers and set servo reversing as needed. Each V-tail mixer is only $3. And useing 2 v-tail mixers is smaller and lighter and cheaper than buying a second stabilizer just to use only its aileron output. Or useing one stabilizer and only stabilize one aileron. With my way you will have both ailerons stabilizing airplane with flaps/spoilers , not just one."
