Ham-It-Up HF converter for Software Defined Radio Devices
Unboxing of my Ham-It-Up upconverter from NooElec. This little device allows you to use the cheap DVB-T USB dongles with Software Defined Radio on the frequencies they cannot do on their own. Basically it opens up the much lower frequencies (shortwave). Currently these are under $50 so between it and the USB device you can have a huge amount of frequencies at your disposal for under $70. Amazing.

I will surely get flamed for this one :) If you are buying a USB DVB-T dongle for software defined radio this may be of interest. People new to this hobby have been taken advantage of and frankly I'm a bit saddened by it. There is NO need for someone entering the hobby to currently pay more than $20 USD for a DVB-T USB dongle for software defined radio. The first footage only has an overlay added to simulate ultra-wide screen format and then the 3 way color corrector whereby you just shift the shadows to the blue side, and shift the highlights to the warm. This is the second maiden flight of my FliteTest Versa wing made of dollar store foam board. The first attempt was a fail due to a CG error. The wind was gusting very strong this day but I just had to try it. The wing took the wind like a champ. I have no doubt I will be able to fly this in winds higher than all my other planes once I get the bugs worked out. This is the final assembly of the gas sensor for emergency workers (Gas Sensor grenade) into the ball housing so it can be thrown into dangerous areas to report atmospheric conditions. The bottom line is no user will need to actual enter the dangerous environment- just throw the ball into an area and sit back while it transmits a condition report. Next phase of my USB DBT-T Software Defined Radio Projects. I want to decode some high resolution weather satellite images, but as with any satellites, you need to constantly adjust for Doppler effect. SDRSharp has a nifty little plugin that works well with several satellite tracking programs (I'm using Orbitron here). Works great! I'm still amazed at what these little cheap USB devices are capable of.
