To regulate the pressure of the drip zone on your sprinkler system, you can install a pressure regulator like this one. This pressure regulator will regulate the pressure at 40 psi, which is a good pressure to be at for a drip zone.

In this video, I give you an overview of Hunter's new bluetooth hose bib controller, the BTT. It works great and is easy to use and set up. I bought it to supplement water my tree up front. This can be used for all sorts of projects at your house like gardens, watering planter pots, drip systems, and a few sprinkler heads. You can find a lot of information on Hunter's website

In this video I talk about the best way to install valve boxes over valves. There is two reasons I like to use two valve boxes. 1. The first box I can put all the way down around the valve to keep all the dirt out and from around the valve. It will make it easier to come back and work on the valve if needed. 2. The second box can be used for flexibility to go up or down so the top is level with the grade of the sod. This works better than just raising the one box up level with the grade and allowing dirt to cover the valve. This also works better that using and extension because you have a lot more flexibility and the cost is actually about the same.

In this video I show you a tip on how to test which sprinkler head to use if you are not sure which one to use and where to use it. I had a situation where I could not decide which head I wanted to use and where I would be the best location to place the head. So what I did was mocked up a head and made it to where I could connect it to a hose. I then put the head in the ground and turned on the water to see what it would do. I tried a few different heads, in different locations to see what would be the best and what I liked the best. It was a good way for me to test some things out and try I few different ideas before I installed a entire system and end up not liking it or it not working.

Should you winterize your sprinkler system or your backflow device?
The answer is yes, but the there are some things you need to consider.
The number one thing to consider is your location and what you winter is like in that location. Once it freezes in your area and it doesn't get above freezing until spring, then you must turn your system off and get all the water blown out of it. But if you live in the south, where it might only freeze once or only occasionally freeze, you will leave your system on and still water on the warm days, while making sure the backflow device is insulated and covered up.

When you are designing and installing an irrigation system, putting shut off valves before every valve is a good idea. It makes servicing and repairs much easier.

I was installing an irrigation system on a commercial job where it specified ball valves, shut off valves, before every valve. At first I thought it was a little over kill, but after we finished that job and serviced it a few times I became a believer. I loved it. It made it so easier to service and repair any problems that occurred with any valve. So I started installing valves this way on a lot of our jobs. I even started specifying shut off valves before every valve on my irrigation designs. One of the huge benefits is if you have a problem with a valve or a broken pipe or sprinkler head on that zone and you don't have time to fix it right away, you can simply shut off the ball valve to that one zone, which will shut of the water to that zone. You can then leave the system running as usual and. come back when you have time and the parts to make the repair. Instead of shut off the entire system, you can isolate the one problem zone. I love having that ability, to isolate one zone or each zone separately. So when you are doing an irrigation design or installation, consider putting shut off valves before every valve. I think you will be glad you did.

When you are tying onto a separate water meter for the irrigation system there are several different types of fittings you can use. In this video I talk about a few different fittings you can use and what I think is best.
I like to use teflon tape when threading sprinkler system pvc fittings together.

Some times irrigation valves stop working. It could be that the wiring to the sprinkler valve is cut, or the sprinkler valve solenoid is not working, or it could be that there is no water the irrigation valve. In this video it wasn't a water issue because I could turn the valve on manually, but it would not come on from the controller. After testing a few things out I figured out it was the solenoid. Instead of just replacing the solenoid, I decided to replace the guts, which would be the diaphragm, the top of the valve with the solenoid. This is a great way to repair a sprinkler valve, and it worked perfect here on this job.
