Have you ever heard or played a banjo, button box or concertina? Each has its own unique sound and together they make a sound called ragtime.
This music box could be a radio from a past time, or a playback of old ditties from a recording. In this video the animation and music go together like a hand and glove.
This delightful music is like that of old time pubs or music halls. Ragtime music is bright and lively like the kaleids made from this fractal music box.
Rag music was popular from the late 1800's to the early 1920's. Instead of television, radio or films this was how folks had a "rage". But instead of drugs and head banging they danced the two-step or sang along. If you never heard this sound before you are in for a treat. Before jazz and the blues became popular, there was ragtime. This week is the week before Christmas. All through the web folks are posting videos about it. I am no exception. Most of these will be secular, but I will interject the meaning of ancient traditions which go back centuries. As the lights and bells in this video. They have a meaning that is mostly unknown to modern folks.
In the days before electricity and gas folks lit their homes and everything else with candles or kerosene lamps. They were used at Christmas to show that the Light of the World was born. The bells are an ancient form of announcement of death, birth, good events and disasters. The tinkling bells are happy and portend joyous events. While the low bells of a church announced the death of a parishioner. Many of our customs were brought here to America from other countries around the world. Some had nothing to do with Jesus at all. But they were incorporated into the melting pot because of their sounds and colors. Please enjoy the Carol of the Bells and the light show in this video. May the peace of God flow thru you. This is totally different than any of my previous fractal art videos. In fact I am starting a new playlist called NOVELTY.
This one is called puppy eyes because the fractal art came out looking so much like an adorable puppy with big eyes. I made kaleids out of this puppy face but kept the eyes as a focus point.
