In the seventh inning of a 6-2 White Sox victory over the Yankees on Monday night at Yankee Stadium, Carlos Rodon threw 18 pitches and only five of them went for strikes.
Yet the Yankees did not score. It has been that kind of a stretch for the suddenly surging White Sox (52-79), who matched their season high with a fourth straight victory, and the southpaw emerging as their staff ace who is undefeated since July 5. The White Sox have a 10-3 record over their last 13 games and a 10-2 mark in their last 12 road contests. Even in the Bronx, where the White Sox have a 3-13 ledger since 2013, they were able to extend their winning ways.

At 100 pitches through six innings and with a no-hitter in hand at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night, White Sox starter Lucas Giolito pushed for a few more pitches to complete what he had started.
Well, more than a few.
It would have taken somewhere around 160 pitches by manager Pedro Grifol’s postgame estimation, which clearly wasn’t happening. Giolito gave way to the bullpen, which lost the no-hitter but finished a 3-2 victory over the Yankees for the White Sox season-high fourth straight win.
Giolito -- who struck out 13 and missed a perfect game by one walk when he no-hit the Pirates on Aug. 25, 2020 -- struck out seven and walked three in the series opener.

After getting off to a much quieter start to the second half of the season than it did in the first, the Yankees' offense was unleashed Thursday night, putting its power back on full display in the Bronx.
Giancarlo Stanton set a Statcast™ mark with his 28th home run, and Neil Walker homered from both sides of the plate for the first time in his career as the Yankees hit five homers for a 7-3 victory over the Rangers in the series opener at Yankee Stadium, extending their win streak to four games.
The Yankees' offense gave plenty of support to starter J.A. Happ, who made his second start in pinstripes and first since coming off the disabled list with hand, foot and mouth disease. Happ logged his 10th quality start of the year, permitting three runs on four hits -- including a fourth-inning homer by Jurickson Profar and a two-run double by Shin-Soo Choo in the fifth -- with nine strikeouts through six innings.
