Rookie police officer, Leon Kennedy awaits on the helipad of the police station after firing several flares into the sky in hopes for help. Finally a helicopter appears in the distance. Leon fire one more flare into the sky and waits. As the helicopter gets closer, Leon notices that something is wrong. The chopper is behaving strangely and erratically. Instead of landing, it just recklessly flies around in circles, swerving dangerously close to the building and then flying back. Suddenly, it's tail bangs against the air conditioning machine of a nearby building and is sent flying straight into another building. The helicopter instantly explodes on impact, leaving a fiery wreckage behind. Leon just stands there distraught with a feeling of hopelessness as he realizes that his only shot of being rescued has been blown. He is now faced with the reality that this dreadful night is going to be much much longer than expected. Meanwhile a couple kilometres away on the desolate zombie ridden streets of the dead city, a motorcycle flies down the road. It is motorcyclist Elza Walker. She offers to call an ambulance, but it is clear that there is no way that that is even possible considering the fact that they are trapped in an alternate reality. They reach what seems to be their only hope of escape, a wide spacious platform with a stationary train car securely sitting at the center of it. Claire instructs Sherry to safely hide inside the train car while she heads into the control room to get the platform moving. When Claire gets to the control room she discovers a large military grade Gatling gun resting on the small table in front of her and she decides to take it just in case she runs into trouble. After pulling the main lever and disengaging the safety locks, Claire then stands on the platform and waits for it to begin moving. The locks finish disengaging, the platform jerks and then begins to gradually descend. As she stands on the slowly descending platform, she suddenly hears a loud screeching roar echoing from the walls of the shaft in the distance above her. As soon as she looks up, a massive beast jumps off the walls of the shaft and lands on top of the train car in front of her. It is William Birkin. He is still alive and has transformed into an even larger deadlier version of his former self. The beast lets out a loud roaring battle cry and then jumps off of the train's roof and onto the platform just several feet away from her. Claire quickly turns and runs as the beast swipes at her with it's massive claws. The beast misses. She runs right around the back of the train car gaining distance between her and the creature. As soon as she reaches the other side of the platform, Claire readies her weapon and waits for the monster to appear around the corner. Meanwhile in a different part of the facility Leon finds himself running down a clanky metal catwalk in a hurry, dodging the hot fiery explosions bursting from all the walls of pipes surrounding him as he makes his way to the nearest platform. The facility was falling apart and he had to escape. Suddenly out of nowhere a giant hand grabs him by the neck and lifts him off the ground. He finds himself staring into the cold, white robotic eyes of a 9-foot tall humanoid creature.
