On Sunday, January 29, 2017, a gunman carried out an act of terrorism at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec where men, women and children were gathered for evening prayers in Quebec City.
The gunman killed six men and injured several other people. Canadians across the country gathered to mourn the victims and demonstrate their opposition to bigotry.

The objective - to develop grass roots resistance to the Energy East Pipeline in arguably the greenest electoral district in Manitoba (where the Green Party has placed second in the last three provincial elections).

Revolutions, A Conference, was held Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2017 by the Geopolitical Economy Research Group (GERG) at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. On April 2, 2013, Climate Change Connection held a workshop at the Fort Whyte Centre to address the challenges municipalities will have in planning how to adapt to climate change in general, and severe weather events, such as droughts and floods, in particular. One of the presenters was Professor Danny Blair, a climatologist at the University of Winnipeg.

Gerry Caplan is a former CUSO field officer, author of The Betrayal of Africa, a weekly online columnist for the Globe and Mail and a featured television political commentator.
Mr. Caplan was the keynote speaker at a dinner held in Winnipeg December 10, 2011 to mark the 50th anniversary of CUSO and the 63rd anniversary of the Univeral Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations Dec. 10, 1948.
This event was sponsored by the University of Winnipeg Global College, CUPE Manitoba, the Manitoba Council for International Co-operation and CUSO-VSO. It was held at the Union Centre in downtown Winnipeg.
