Final Fantasy VIII Remaster 40 - Continuing the CC Group Quest & getting Tonberry King
Now that the Garden is moving lets get started on some good quality side quests that will enhance our party for the trials that lay ahead. First we're off to confront more members of the elite CC Group in Balamb Garden as we build up our rare card collection. Then it's off to the Centra Ruins to kill 20 Tonberrys in order to goad out the Tonberry King himself. Once we defeat this particularly challenging boss he yields to us and becomes our newest Guardian Force. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=larCMEZCfm4
In this episode we make it to the Chaos Shrine where we eventually defeat Garland.
Also in this episode I come across my first real issue with the game. For some reason my controller inputs would go off an on, stuttering my movement and keeping me from dashing or getting anywhere easily. I really hope this doesn't become the norm. There was no trace of this issue in the first session, so hopefully it's a fluke. It kept this session very short.

Here is a full first run of the original Japanese version of Zelda 1. Aside from the obvious language difference (which, actually a lot of the game is in English) there is another notable change in this version of the game. The Famicom Disk System had more audio channels, which this game took complete advantage of. This means all those familiar tunes us English speakers remember are fuller sounding and have some extra flavor in there.
The rest of the game is more or less an unreadable version of our version, not too bad considering some of the bogus hints those NPCs can give anyway.

This version of Hook is pretty scaled down compared to the 16-bit console versions, but I ended up enjoying it for a quick diversion.

Well we escaped out of boiler and into the frying pan here. Where we ended up makes our situation look way more destitute than before. or does it? In trying to find our way out of here we also gain some valuable information on what happened to the planet, and if the journey has taught us anything so far, it's that you can meet great friends in very unexpected places.

Here is a strange port of Super Mario Brothers for the PC Engine (known as the TurboGrafx-16 in the US) First thing you'll notice, the colors are off. Then you'll see the game is running faster than it should. Then it hits you. The sound has been amplified to an obnoxious degree and seems to be playing faster than the game is running. Once you get past those glaring problems, underneath is a real port of Super Mario Brothers. Everything seems to be here. There is a version of this on a 5-in-1 card, but it was even further glitchy in the graphics department. Not the best way to experience this classic game.

We're now fully situated in Disc Four now so it's time we go wrap up some loose ends before we tackle the castle outside of time. First we head back to the Centra ruins and get bonus Guardian Force Odin. Odin is different from the other GF's because he cannot be junction or summoned. In fact he only shows up randomly and it's always a one hit kill at the beginning of the fight. Not worth much in the long run but his Zantetsuken attack looks pretty cool. After that puzzle/fight we find and board the Ragnarok. Upon boarding we immediately forfeit all progress we'd made doing that card grinding earlier in a terrific loss to CC group Queen Xu. Then it's a return to the Deep Sea Research Center to the bottom where we fight and kill Ultima Weapon. Don't forget to draw Guardian Force Eden, she's the best in the game.
