I talk to Mike Graham on TalkRADIO about the proposed Online Harms Bill
Apart from pointing out that the Online Harms Bill amounts to little more than a Whingers' Charter (and is likely unenforceable in its current form), I also discuss the problem of importing debates about the UK's electoral system (especially Voter ID) from the US. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTp9yJurfY4
How have we reached the point where academics have to publish papers anonymously in order to avoid being cancelled? Today's chat with Mike Graham on TalkRADIO concerned how an inability to research or even discuss certain issues (especially intelligence) has led to a situation where scholars are at real risk if they try.

How did the UK get here with Brexit? Why has it all gone so wrong?
Building on a piece published by US outlet 'Law & Liberty' (link below), today's podcast attempts to get some of the way to the bottom of Brexit.

We then move on to discussing how hypocrites undermine their own cause, and Extinction Rebellion's love of litter.
All through the efforts of @talkRADIO.

Are social media companies publishers? Should they be treated as publishers in law?
I'm publishing this eight-minute teaser in advance of a longer podcast on the legal issues swirling around social media entities exercising the sort of editorial control publishers do while not being treated, in law, as publishers.
This issue has generated an enormous amount of heat and not much light, which I've addressed in this month's Standpoint Magazine (on newsstands now).
What I say here is a companion to my article: https://standpointmag.co.uk/issues/june-2019/baked-in-bias/
The full podcast will be up on Saturday or Sunday.
A variety of topics on my @talkRADIO spot with Mike Graham - the Dominic Cummings v Matt Hancock showdown, the problem of trying to restrict access to healthcare on the basis of behaviour, and Australia-UK trade.

Apology for bad sound in the first two (especially the second).
It's no good buying a decent microphone when one has it around the wrong way! True story, I did this in both podcasts and then tried to fix it with editing in the second podcast (which failed of course - can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear).
The Australian election on Saturday did not go as planned - the 'wrong' side won, and Australian pollsters were humbled for the first time (by contrast, pollsters in the UK & US fell on their faces in 2016 or even before).
In this podcast, I outline a bit about how Australia's (unusual) electoral system works, why climate change is always going to be a fizzer at election time, and how pollsters fouled it up.
Background feature (also by me) in April/May's Standpoint Magazine: https://standpointmag.co.uk/issues/may-2019/how-australia-became-italy-with-crocodiles/
Did Dom's bomb, bomb? Or did it land on the target? As in, will his revelations bring down the government? Matt Hancock? Boris? Or is the whole episode a big fat fizzer? My money's on the latter.

New Balls Please.
This week's spot with Mike Graham on @talkRADIO covers three issues - the ongoing Australian Open faffle with "Novax Djokovic", an explanation of jury nullification in the context of the "Colston 4" acquittals, and a discussion of science writer Will Storr's new book, "The Status Game".
