While definitions differ widely, I pose there are fundamental differences in the approaches of using willpower or self-discipline to get difficult things done.
Willpower: The ability to control one's actions, emotions or urges.
Discipline: Orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior.

UPDATE: I have since converted the bike to drop handlebars! It turned out I didn't have a good bike fit and the short reach of flat handlebars was part of the problem. Hence, the bike is now an 1x11 speed Shimano gravel bike! Not so quirky anymore, although the Tubus Airy rack has been mounted and provides great utility.

3:51 Everything that’s really great in this world comes out of because people are obsessed with it.
4:28 Be obsessive. Surrender to your obsession and say “If I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do it 150%”
5:15 That’s all you have to do to succeed. You just have to do one thing more than what everyone else is willing to do.
6:56 I’m going to continually test it, and change it and improve it until it’s what people love. And then I am just gonna keep doing that.
10:01 All you have to do is persist. Success is 99% perspiration and only 1% inspiration.
10:18 You will gather the resources, and the robustness, and the resolution that comes from simply not giving up.
12:15 I’m not gonna give up until I’ve given it everything I’ve got.
14:09 You give it everything you’ve got and then you can walk away without regrets.
16:21 Success is simply a game of last man standing. Be willing to do what other people aren’t. If they’re willing to write for 10 hours a week, you write for 20 hours a week.

September 2023: I'm playing more difficult songs already but wanted to circle back and record some of the songs I may have first played a few weeks ago.
Currently at level 4 in @yousician after 52h of total playtime. This song is also level 4.
The last song I recorded was a level lower I believe, and playing a song like that would be boring now. The progress is evident and I am enjoying that a lot!
The best feeling is to encounter a new song that at first seems "impossible" to play, but an hour later I'm playing it fine. That's how to get good at anything! Practice...
Perfecting—hitting 100% of the notes and with perfect timing—takes a lot of effort, though, and is hard to do. It's also not as rewarding, so maybe I will rather choose to learn to play more difficult songs instead of perfecting easier ones.
Then playing the easier ones perfectly later will also take less effort.
