While taking off recently, my airplane did something very different: it unexpectedly rotated into the air before it was ready to fly, at too slow an airspeed - when heading directly towards 75 foot tall trees!
I show video of the incident, explain exactly what happened and what I did to prevent the crash, then use some hard data to identify exactly what happened - and what I need to do to ensure it never happens again.

A short video today, my new nosewheel tire has arrived, so I mount that onto the wheel. I also received information about the flox on my nosegear mount - newer instructions have the cavities packed with flox, so I take the opportunity to add that flox into the cavity on my nosegear mount.

I've had viewers ask me to show more landings. So I went and collected a sample of landings from the last year and compiled them all together into this video. No narration, no music, just landings!

It's been brutally cold for a couple of weeks, and I haven't been able to get any work done on the airplane. However, I now have the new exhaust pipe back, so I am going to fit it to the airplane and start working on some other diagnostic tasks.

Sweetwater is the largest online music retailer, and has the largest physical showroom in North America. Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, it's a 2 1/2 drive for me, but I can do it in less than an hour in my Cozy! In this video, I fly out to Sweetwater, tour through the showroom and facility, before heading back home - and seeing an unexpected surprise!
Interested in seeing more of the synthesizers I played with at Sweetwater? Check out the synth-focused version of this video that I have posted on my Synth Stuff channel: https://youtu.be/tTfjB81rTu8

It's been weeks of trying to get my new airplane home. Everything from weather, to airline cancellations to wildfire smoke has conspired against this happening. But finally, after four weeks, I get back out to Wisconsin. I first need to get reacquainted with the airplane, and do some pattern work - especially "short" field landings (short for a Cozy, anyway) to ensure that I will be fine getting into and out of the 3200 foot runway at my home airport.
After some dual and solo practice, it's time to fly home! And that long-awaited (dreaded?) first landing at home home airport.

"Don't Denver It!" The number of "John Denver" comments I have received since I bought this airplane is pretty surprising. Apparently, as soon as anyone sees a Canard of any kind, the first thought in their mind is "John Denver" - which is unfortunate. In this video, I go over what the real story was behind John Denver's unfortunate demise, demonstrate exactly what happened, and discuss how it applies to my airplane.

The heating system in my airplane is pretty much non-existent. Now that we are into November and December, that's a real problem! In addition, the EFIS system in the airplane has no backup: if the alternator, battery or other critical component of the electrical system fails, I lose my primary attitude indicator, navigation, engine instruments and everything else my EFIS does for me. I do have a battery-backed backup attitude indicator with GPS-derived speed and altitude, but the Garmin G3X supports backup power, so let's use it! I install an EFIS backup battery as well as an on-board charger to keep it fully charged, then install a new, high-output heater fan to draw more warm air into the cockpit.

I'm taking a different approach with this video: rather than showing a bit of all the different projects I'm working on, instead I'm taking several weeks of work on a single system and compiling that into one video. Therefore this video concentrates on electrical work: my new relay board, EIS changes, GSA 28 Autopilot servos and more.
