It happened on Monday morning December 26th 2016 at the Dixie Gun and Pawn on Veterans Memorial Highway in Cobb County. The store owner Jimmy Groover said that “two men wearing masks came in with guns drawn, demanding that he get on the floor, while shouting they were going to Shoot him.” But Groover was wearing a handgun on his hip “Police said (Groover) pulled out his gun and fired, hitting one of the gunmen.” The suspects opened fire as well, later police arrived to find shattered glass and one of the two suspects lying on the floor. The second suspect fled the scene and escaped in a silver Dodge Charger Police said a series of bullets were fired in both directions. One of the store's front windows was shattered from a gunshot. Groover said his store has been robbed numerous times during the 30 years that his family has owned it, but this was the first time that people allegedly tried to rob it during business hours. Update: The suspect who was shot, 30-year-old Donovan Chopin, died at the scene, police said. The investigation into attempted robbery is ongoing and the second suspect has not been caught, Cobb County police Officer Alicia Chilton said. Groover doesn’t face any charges, Chilton said. In the 30 years that Groover, 64, has owned a gun store, this was the first time he’s been present when someone tried to rob him. But there have been 18 burglaries at his store and about a dozen attempted burglaries over those three decades, Since news of the shooting, Groover said he’s received calls from around the country. “They’ve just called to give me support because they know it’s not an easy thing to do,” he said. “People are tired of being victimized, and they’re glad to see a good guy win.” Mableton City in Georgia Mableton is a census-designated place in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives responded to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, located at 23740 Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at approximately 2:29 p.m. Homicide Bureau Lieutenant Alfred addressed the media and stated that Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies were driving out of the station’s secured parking lot when the armed suspect, a male Hispanic adult, suddenly appeared walking on foot. The deputies attempted to detain the armed suspect at gunpoint and ordered the armed suspect numerous times to drop the firearm. The suspect refused and during the attempts to get the armed suspect to comply and cooperate, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. One deputy fired two rounds, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A firearm was recovered at the scene and it turned out to be a replica gun, Airsoft guns are replica toy weapons used in airsoft sports that shoot plastic bullets. No deputies were injured. GREEN, Ohio — The Ohio Highway State Patrol released dash cam of a police chase involving the Summit County Sheriff's deputies on June 02-2021. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect trying to break into vehicles on Greensburg Road in Green around 10 a.m., and just as a deputy arrived he apparently fled in a speeding RV that had doors open and a power cord dangling behind. He refused to stop the motor home despite officers using tire deflation devices, and he even struck multiple other vehicles (including some used by law enforcement) during the pursuit. With the RV now driving through at least two backyards on Briarwood Way, it eventually got stuck in the grass, and the driver attempted to run away on foot. County and state authorities were able to finally arrest him thereafter. Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved-Shooting (OIS) that occurred Monday evening, in Southwest Division. On June 1, 2020, around 9:24 p.m., two male suspects (who were later identified as 20-year-old Daizon Blue and 18-year-old Mosiq Jones) along with a third individual named Damion Henninger, were at a gas station located at the 2200 block of South Vermont Avenue. The males were standing next to a silver Hyundai that was parked at a gas pump. During that time, Southwest Division plain clothes Narcotics Enforcement Detail (NED) officers were in the area driving an unmarked sedan conducting crime suppression due to recent protests and looting. As the officers drove through the gas station lot, they observed one of the suspects point a firearm at their vehicle. The officers drove out of the gas station and immediately broadcasted a request for back-up. Moments later, additional Southwest NED officers, who were driving an unmarked van, drove into the gas station lot and were immediately fired upon by Jones and Blue. Both suspects fired multiple rounds, striking the officers van as it came to a stop, at which time an Officer-Involved-Shooting occurred. Jones and Blue then dropped their weapons, surrendered, and were taken into custody. Neither Jones nor Blue were struck by gunfire. Henninger was struck by gunfire and was also taken into custody. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported Henninger to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries that were determined not to be life-threatening. Henninger was not arrested and was released. Jones and Blue were subsequently arrested and booked for attempt murder. One NED officer sustained a minor graze wound during the incident. He was treated at a local hospital and later released. Two loaded handguns were located at scene and recovered as evidence. LAPD's specialized Force Investigation Division (FID) responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence. A representative from the Office of the Inspector General responded and monitored the scene investigation. The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police and the Board of Police Commissioners and the Office of the Inspector General to determine the thoroughness and accuracy of the investigation and whether the use of deadly force complied with LAPD's policies and procedures.
