Possible that if the round were farther into the chamber, but still not fully in, that the striker would have more speed (longer travel before hitting) and could ignite the round even without the rim supported on the far side. I will do more testing, but this is what I had to work with at the time the video was made.
In Mythbusters' fashion, I would call this one "Possible," although it did NOT occur in my limited testing. Hitting the range with the Desert Tech MDR bullpup chambered in .308 / 7.62x51 NATO. We shoot it suppressed as well as straight out of the box. Available at Euro Optic here: https://goo.gl/qmYbb5

Time to break the burning cannon fuse before the dynamite explodes! Couldn't find a damsel to save, so ducky is in the hot seat.

My extremely dirty Remington 597 did NOT like being 10-15 degrees (F). The CZ SP-01, of course, didn't care. Liberty Mystic suppressor / silencer on both. Man it is QUIET on the sub-sonic 9mm! Like, crazy quiet. The .22 lr would be as quiet or even quieter if it were sub-sonic. Unfortunately, the .22 ammo I have is all supersonic out of a rifle and all of that noise you hear is the crack of the bullet's sonic boom. The same ammo through the same suppressor is nearly silent out of a pistol, because the shorter barrel keeps it below the speed of sound. How does the BRN-180S do suppressed? GREAT! We hit the range with a Yankee Hill Machine Turbo-K suppressor from Silencer Shop to test out both the Brownells BRN-180 and the YHM Turbo-K.

There are dozens of manufacturers making semi-auto .22 rifles, and many of them have multiple models and/or sub-models. Just look at the various configurations of Remington 597's or Ruger 10/22's, for instance. While the 10/22 is likely the most popular rifle of this sort in the U.S., I think the 597 deserves some serious consideration. After shooting this rifle, I can unquestionably state that I prefer it in nearly every way to the multiple, different 10/22 variants that I have shot.
I love the heavy barrel profile and I really like the Hogue overmold look-alike stock with the flat, benchrest-style forend. With cheap ammo, this thing is shooting really tight groups. With quality ammo, I'm quite curious to see what it can do at a full 100 yards! If I can get out on a calm day, I'll test that out for sure. I think the next video with this rifle, though, will be after I pick up my suppressor. What a sweet combo it will be!
Dual, tool steel action bars, last round bolt hold open, drop free mags, and a pretty good trigger (apparently you don't get this out of the box in all 597 variants though) give this rifle an edge of many of its competitors. It's reliable, accurate, very well made, and affordable. What more could you want? We put the Lee Load-All 2 to good use, as we step up to the plate to meet VP Joe Biden's latest firearms-related challenge! This time ol' Double Barrel Joe, in a very endearing letter to a young kid (see it here: http://goo.gl/cbbXm), states that the country would be safer and people would be happier if guns shot chocolate. So... we loaded up a bunch of chocolate ammo and shot it through the Veep's favorite firearm -- a double barrel shotgun!
12 gauge chocolate loads include:
* Mini M&M's "birdshot"
* chocolate slugs (milk and dark)
* cocoa powder
* chocolate chips (Ghirardelli for max deliciousness)
* Milky Way
* Chocolate Laffy Taffy
* Peanut M&M's (Danger! Peanuts are banned from grade schools for a reason!)
Targets for this test were two small "interior wall" sections. Standard interior wall sheetrock (drywall) nailed to 2x4"s ~16" on center.
Conclusions... Some of this chocolate ammo would be lethal! Peanuts are VERY DANGEROUS!
