Nightmare Collection II: Marine Philt was a 1993 visual novel released on the PC-98 and FM Towns by eroge developer FairyTale. FairyTale would later merge with fellow game developer Cocktail Soft to create F&C, which today stands as one of the oldest eroge developers still active.
Nightmare Collection II: Marine Philt serves as the second half of the Nightmare Collection horror trilogy, Nightmare Collection I being comprised of both Dead of the Brain and it's sequel, Dead of the Brain 2. Marine Philt features a future Tokyo in which a group of teenagers investigate a murder incident which is revealed to perpetrated by an H.R. Giger-inspired (read "Alien") monster.
As a game, Marine Philt (like most visual novels) is unremarkable, but it's polished graphics, predictable plot beats, and willingness to shift rapidly from a light-hearted semi-serious tone to brutal violence set it apart and are reinforced by a memorable mix of distinctly retro PC chiptunes. Interested collectors should note that Marine Philt was never released outside of Japan and that all dialog appears in Japanese.
I don't have the original titles for any of these tracks, so I added my own based on what points during the game they play. Enjoy.
