Amateur struggles to turn the outside of a bowl blank
Time to turn the outside of one of the plum tree bowl blanks I made last year. First time using the wood lathe in almost 2 years, and the first time using the Ramator wood lathe. So don't expect too much :)
I made this backstop a while ago. This is the short edit from this project. I am going though a bit of a personal crisis but I hope to be back with new videos at some point

In this video I start making a backing plate for that ER32 collet chuck that has been standing on my workbench for almost a year.
I'm also testing my new internal turning tool holder for the first time. And try to restore a 20mm tapered drill bit using an air die grinder.

On the day of my channels 3rd year anniversary I’m trying to finally re-assemble the spindle of my vintage Oscar Erhrlich lathe. This old machine uses split tapered bronze bearing, that unfortunately have a lot of wear. Hopefully I can get it back together so it will be usable again, with an acceptable amount of run-out.
Oh, and b.t.w. it's the channels birth day, so there will be a little speech near the end of the video

A closer look at the the Andonstar ADSM302 digital microscope I got from Banggood last summer. I use it for inspecting lathe tools and it is great for that i.m.h.o. And it has been a great addition to my workshop.

I finally found myself a new wood lathe. Now I can say goodbye to that old pattern makers bench lathe. No more oiling of the bearings or wrestling with those awkward handles to move around the tool rest and tail stock. It does need a little work but I think it's a very nice machine.

In this video I test, review and install a cheap Chinese VFD on my old lathe. The NF-9000 made by NFLixin was given to me by a company called Banggood in return for an honest review video.
Banggood is a large on line store that sells anything from the latest Chinese smart phones to the greatest sex toys.
But they also sell a lot of lathe tools that is more my cup of tea.
The NF-9000 is a very capable drive and it makes my lathe motor sound a lot better. But unfortunately I run into problems again.....
Links to the Banggood site. You can also find the user manual there.

Note: I've joined the Banggoods affiliates program so I can perhaps earn some store credit. That way, I can get myself some new drill bits to break, for in one of my next videos :)
In order for this to work you need to click on one of the links above and buy stuff within 15 days. Apparently they will give me a 4% commission which will come out of your pocket ofcource :)
I'm feeling rich already!!

After trying to turn a bowl without a bowl gouge it's now time to make a proper bowl turning tool from scrap metal.

I saved an old set of rotors so could practice machining brake discs whenever I got a chuck big enough for the job. Now that I have a bigger chuck,I gave it a try and ran into all kinds of problems with the VFD and electric motor...
