This is that time we went hiking in Korea, Ulsan the month of December in Ulsan. We hiked Munsu San, right after Liam's birthday, I believe. It's been a while since a made a vlog. I missed the editing process so here is the vide.
This was the first time Malli and Liam both climbed to the top of this mountain, and even so, it wasn't from the very bottom, but still an achievement in and of itself. I believe that Liam can do much better than this, he has it in him. It is Malli who struggles with the hikes up. Fatherhood is so strange. Maybe that's another video. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33YSG6Zf66k

About me:
I am an Expat with close to a decade and a half of ESL experience. I am the Franchising Director for Shane English Korea based out of Uslan, South Korea and know a thing or two about starting and operating an ESL business. I have also lived in South Korea since 2005, and although far from an authority figure on the cultural intricacies of the South Korea culture, I have some basic understanding of why things are the way they are, which I hope to share with those willing to liste. In this podcast I share some of my ideas and knowledge with a wider audience and also hope to learn new things along the way. I hope to provide our viewers with insighlts on how to start a Hagwon in South Korea, discuss some pitfalls and success stories, and bring an overall awareness to the beginning and running of innovative companies.
The most recent focus of the podcast has been on interviewing expats who reside in South Kroea and spend their livelihood doing things beyond teaching. With that I hope to bring some insight into the possibilities open to expats living and working in South Korea, beyond teaching.
Over the past 114 episodes, I have had the pleasure of sitting down with some pretty interesting individuals and I hope to continue this for the foreseable future.

The kids are finally going back to school, and this is Liam's first day back at a Korean Elementary School After Corona Break. It is this is how the schools opened up. Students have to keep distance when entering the premises, there are little steps painted along the path, to help the process along. Initially the security guard would check the temperature of every person entering the premises, this is no longer done, but the smaller precautions like a teacher giving out hand sanitiser to the students coming in is still in place.
These are the new realities of things. If you are interested in hearing about what it's like to be a student during the corona virus thingy, here in a South Kroean elementary school, then check out this video here I recorded, an interview with Malli and Liam a little while back.

The Corona Virus in the city of Ulsan, South Korea is setting everyone on edge, and in this video I talk about how the present situation is affecting the people living in the city.
Over the past week, nearly 500 cases of the COVID-19 were reported. The sudden hike in numbers comes from the rapid spread of the virus through a cult gathering which took place in the city of Daegu. Many members of the cult are still unaccounted for and the authorities are searching in hope of stopping further spread of the virus.
Let's hope they are successful. In addition to all that mess, officials in the health department are also tied to the cult group, although I am not sure how that changes things other than cults are creepy and having people in high ranking government positions part of such things is disconcerting.

Ulsan Postal Service Hires Morons. The idiot that delivered the book, wrapped in a paper box, left it overnight or early morning laying on the ground in the rain. Instead of putting it under the canopy we have available right next to our gate he thought that it would be a grand idea to have it out in the rain.
And now who is to blame for it? Who will be held accountable for that idiots lack of common sense? NO O E because the friggin covid rules made it so. No co tact delivery bullshit.

It's not the one trip after which I was detained by the Customs Police. That one is still in the works. Make sure to follow the channel and the story will be revealed, soon.
The trips keep piling up as I continue to think that each weekend I go out may be the last one, yet the weather continues to surprise me and remain warm. Let's hope for a couple more trips before I return to the mountain hiking.

Fast food is becoming rampant in South Korea. The number of fast food franchises may be complete by now to equal that of South Koreas western counterparts of the developed world.
Saving face is a concept in Asia that although easily understood general meaning in the west, it may fall short of being completely comprehended by westerners. Yet in South Korea it is a big deal and Koreans will go through great lengths in order to save face during uncomfortable situations.
The man throwing food at the MacDonalds employee may have been expressing his dislike in an exaggerated way which may have been a result of him trying to cover up for something larger.

Welcome to the 46th episode of the Hagwon Startup Podcast. In tonight's episode I will be briefly talking about why it is important to not be on your own when starting up a hagwon, particularly as you are moving from a gongbubang to a hagwon operation.
Normally the intro that follows goes thus:
I am an Expat with close to a decade and a half of ESL experience. I operate a private language school franchise in the city of Ulsan, South Korea and know a thing or two about starting and operating an ESL business in South Korea. In this podcast I share some of my ideas and knowledge with a wider audience and also hope to learn new things along the way. I hope to provide our viewers with insights on how to start a Hagwon in South Korea, discuss some pitfalls and success stories, and bring an overall awareness to the beginning and running of innovative companies.
Teaching English in Korea comes with a lot of challenges for both the teachers and owners. In discussions with our guests I try to cover as many topics related to Hagwon Startups and teaching English in Korea as well as globally as our combined experience of this field allows.
As the Living Korea channel matures, and the Hagwon Startup Podcast chugs along, my goal is to include more episodes, in which I get to talk to interesting people doing exciting things in South Korea, outside of their regular teaching professions.
Do expect the unexpected though, as we do not shy away from off-
topic conversation.
