Edward Harrison is joined by Marin Katusa – chief energy investment strategist at Casey Research and author of “The Colder War.” Marin tells us he sees oil going lower within the next 6 – 12 months because, despite the drop in rig count, output levels will remain elevated. Marin also gives us his take on the demand side problems, with China slowing much more than government statistics suggest and warns that hedges that expire by the end of 2015 will leave many companies naked and that’s when the penny could drop.
Marin says he thinks the $100 billion BRICS bank will help solve the problems that Russia and China want to solve but won’t necessarily help other economies in the emerging markets and gives us his take on what kind of impact oil and gas will have on the economy in Russia this year. He continues his comments with an in-depth analysis of oil and the Middle East with points on both Saudi Arabia and ISIS.

Ann Pettifor is a world renowned economist whose book "The Coming First World Debt Crisis" was published in 2006, just one year before we had the worst financial crisis in three quarters of a century. She is one of the few economists who can claim to have genuinely predicted the crisis.
She now has a new book out, called "Just Money: How Society Can Break the Despotic Power of Finance". In it, Dr. Pettifor describes how the legitimacy of monetary systems originates in the social contracts inherent in credit-based transactions. The breakdown of the Bretton Woods system led to a destabilizing credit structure increasingly dominated by speculative activity instead of credit based on productive investment. Dr. Pettifor explains her framework for understanding money that will lead to sustainable and productive growth without destabilizing bubbles and crisis.
Also, Erin Ade and Edward Harrison discuss a recent study from the "The Equality of Opportunity Project", which has mapped out the 10 best and worst cities in the US for economic mobility.

Our lead story: Germany’s largest bank is under pressure from investors to follow its rivals (like UBS and Credit Suisse) in scaling back on its unprofitable operations. In the wake of its $2.5 billion Libor rigging fine, Deutsche Bank will cut €200 billion in investment bank assets and pull-back from a tenth of the countries in which it operates. They are doing this in an effort to reduce risk and boost earnings. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin sits down with Frances Coppola – associate editor at Pieria and blogger at “Coppola Comment.” Frances tells us what she would do (if she were Queen of Europe) to optimize the European Union and gives us her take on crises brewing in other European countries.
After the break, Bianca gives us a daily news update on other major business headlines including Jeb Bush’s record fundraising, the fall of Bitcoin, US services sector activity, a possible Brexit, and Apple earnings.
Afterwards, Ameera is joined by John Brynjolfsson – CIO of Armored Wolf. John tells us what impact he thinks currency swings will have on US multinationals earnings levels and what sectors of the equity universe he thinks offer value at these levels.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and Edward discuss Greece’s imminent default.

Since 2000, more than $140 billion of high-yield debt has been issued by US oil and gas companies in order to finance their drilling and exploration programs. Investors who put their money behind riskier oil and gas companies now face the threat of losing out. That’s because some borrowers will likely seek new financing that will be secured against the same assets which backed general claims protecting unsecured creditors of previously issued high-yielding debt. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin sits down with Yanis Varoufakis – professor of economic theory at the University of Athens and candidate for Greek Parliament. Judging by Monday's decline in Greek bond yields, there is some improvement in investor sentiment toward Greece. However, Greece is in a political and economic crisis. Yanis tells us why Greece remains in crisis and gives us his take on whether it can achieve lasting economic growth under the current policy framework. He also explains why he is running for office, yet fears turning into a politician.
And in The Big Deal, Erin and Edward Harrison discuss increasing attempts to gut the Dodd-Frank Act. Take a look!
