Hi there! This needle felting tutorial is an easy/beginner level felting project. It makes a cute little felted bunny. I use sheep's wool for the core and then cover it with Suri alpaca roving. Enjoy

In this video, I share our alpaca barn setup, grouping, and take you on a little barn tour of our farm :)
Main barn- all girls 30 ft x 26 ft metal horse carport barn with two garage rolling doors on the north side. In this video, they are both open.
Little boys' barn- I can't recall exactly...close to a standard two car metal carport
Herdsire barn- 24x24, 3 pens which are kept open but each one can be closed. One area is not used for the alpacas at the moment.
Enjoy!
If there's something you'd like me to make a video on, let me know!

Raise Alpacas with Love: Alpaca Care Easy Toenail Trimming Demo :)
When alpaca babies (crias)are desensitized and get their toenails trimmed this way, it makes my life as an alpaca shepherdess so much easier. I can easily trim an adult alpaca male weighing 180lbs by myself. I much prefer to bribe with treats and keep them happy :)
I develop trust with my alpacas through this process (and daily interaction) and never push them, so they will not kick me. But please exercise caution and listen to your alpaca and watch their body language. If they are stomping or getting impatient, give them space and trim another day.
I use a goat hoof trimmer I bought on Amazon but they are available at local feed stores, too.

This covers material info, so please refer there...except I did end up using more alpaca washed fleece for the surface wool for the white poodle than the listed amount. Always have extras.
I don't monetize these videos so if you enjoy my tutorials, please go like my Etsy shop and some of my products there that you actually like. That helps my shop get a little more love and see what you like so I can make more of those things. https://www.etsy.com/shop/wisteriasuriranch
I have some PDF tutorials for sale at Etsy, so if you feel like pampering my animals (who take care of me! hahaha), any digital product sales really help especially with feed costs going up.
I always appreciate nice comments and these truly make my day brighter, so drop me a note and let me know how you are doing.
I love love love my animals and they are spoiled and respected at my farm, Wisteria Suri Ranch.
Anyway- enjoy and pass on the joy!

I shear all of my Suri alpacas by hand with lots of love and respect. Tiffany is one of our Suri alpacas in my herd :) I was able to get really good hand shearing angles on this one- so this is a great one to watch first. She ended up being really cooperative and I was able to finish most of her body except the upper neck part!
If you want some washed fleeces from our herd, please support our farm at my Etsy store :) https://www.etsy.com/shop/WisteriaSuriRanch
I have taken a traditional shearing training course and have shorn with electric shearers and ground restraints. I have also used a rotating table. My alpacas tolerated this as we talked them through everything and did it as gently as we could. But there were many drawbacks. This method requires 3 adults familiar with working with alpacas and it can be dangerous if the alpacas are stressed out. It's also very hard on your back... I needed an easier better way to shear my beloved alpacas myself :)
I prefer hand shearing with them standing as I can do this by myself and do this very gently. I greatly enjoy the time I spend with them as I shear. You can watch how I work with different alpacas as their personalities differ and also what they tolerate.
I'd love for more people to know that alpacas can be shorn in this gentle manner- although it does take patience, time and effort to develop trust with the animals. Please like this video to help more people see this and share it with other animal lovers and fiber artists if you feel this way, too. Thank you!
