NAVY SEAL CHIEF EDDIE GALLAGHER
Accusations have been made against Special Warfare Operator Chief Petty Officer (SOC) Edward R. Gallagher from his last deployment in Mosul, Iraq in 2017. These accusations have led to his arrest and pretrial confinement at the brig in Miramar, San Diego. These accusations pertain to the death of an ISIS insurgent who was fighting against allied forces and firing on Eddie’s SEAL platoon.
Eddie was arrested on September 11th, Patriot Day. To make matters worse, Eddie was taken from the Intrepid Spirit Center at Camp Pendleton by NCIS and thrown in the brig. The Intrepid Spirit Center is a new medical center which treats warriors who have received injuries from combat service. This is where NCIS arrested him, the same place where he was receiving in-patient care in preparation for his impending retirement after 20 years of service.
The purpose of military law is to promote justice. Instead, a brave warrior must remain behind bars while he awaits his court-martial - a trial that he eagerly awaits to clear his name. Although warriors accused of combat crimes usually remain free pending trial, his Navy command has placed and kept him in confinement. He hasn't been able to see his family, meet properly with his lawyers, or adequately prepare for trial. Eddie has known about these allegations and accusations for many months. He has not tried to run away or hide. He is not a flight risk. Yet, he remains in pretrial confinement where it is more difficult to assist in his own defense.
The disgraceful treatment of Eddie and his family first started a few months ago in June. Eddie was taken to an NCIS office one morning so that NCIS could simultaneously conduct a raid on his home. And although Eddie was not at his home, over a dozen armed NCIS agents raided his home, which was occupied only by his sons. His boys were pulled from their home in their underwear and taken into the street by armed agents. Eddie has been treated like a Mexican drug cartel member, not like the warrior who has repeatedly put his life on the line for his country. Now he’s in pretrial confinement with the undeniable feeling is that he’s being treated as if he’s guilty until proven innocent.
Eddie has served nine combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been highly decorated over his 19-year career. His many awards include three given for valor in combat: 2 Bronze Stars with Valor and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Valor, which he earned on the same deploy

Bandidos MC Member Shot after Switching Clubs
A tattooed man who was shot three times in Sydney's southwest is believed to have been targeted for defecting from the Rebels bikie gang to their rivals the Bandidos.
The 28-year-old was sprayed with bullets as he stepped out of his black BMW SUV at Leppington on Wednesday.
The man was taken to hospital in a serious condition and has allegedly refused to cooperate with police.
Detectives allege it was a targeted shooting as tensions escalate between the two outlaw gangs.
A former Bandidos member claims the gang is on the hunt for new recruits and that the 28-year-old had recently left the Rebels to become a member of the rival gang

DENTON, Md. — The Denton Police Department ordered an investigation into its own officers over their response to an April 7 incident that's now circulating on social media.
Officers were initially called for a landlord tenant dispute at a residential building on S. 4th Street.
On scene the property owner and residents were involved in an argument over a pool in the yard.

?Trademark law does not let a trademark owner exert its trademark rights to stop news reporting about it or its products or services. You see proof of this everyday on the front pages of newspapers, the homepages of news websites, and countless blogs. Mainstream reporters and non-traditional journalists routinely report on earnings announcements, job lay-offs, and accounting scandals without worrying that they are infringing or diluting the trademarks of the companies and organizations they report on. There are several legal bases for this result: there is no risk of confusion between the news source and the trademark owner; nominative fair use protects this use of the trademark owner's mark; and the federal dilution statute expressly exempts "news reporting and news commentary" from a dilution claim. See 15 U.S.C. § 1125(c)(3)(B). As noted above, one court has held that a blogger's critical commentary on a company qualified as "news reporting and news commentary." See BidZirk, LLC v. Smith, 2007 WL 3119445 (D.S.C. Oct. 22, 2007).
Trademark law does not permit a trademark owner to use its trademark rights to silence commentary and criticism. As with news reporting, courts recognize the important First Amendment values at stake and usually deny efforts by trademark owners to encroach on legitimate commentary and criticism. There are several legal bases for this result: there is no risk of confusion between the commentator and the trademark owner, and nominative fair use may protect this use of the trademark owner's mark. Additionally, courts are likely to find that your use of a trademark in commentary or criticism is "not in connection with a good or service" and "noncommercial" (the argument is especially strong for the latter category). But note that some courts may find your use of a trademark for criticism and commentary to be commercial if you host advertising or link to commercial websites. In any event, to defeat a trademark dilution claim, you do not even need to show that your use is noncommercial. The federal dilution statute creates a categorical exemption for "criticizing . . . or commenting upon the famous mark owner or the goods or services of the famous mark owner." 15 U.S.C. § 1125(c)(3)(A)(ii). ?
