Episode 32 - Week ending 17 May 2020
We leave Shaw Island and head to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. Our friends Tim and Deb, in Karanga, break a drive shaft and return to Mackay for repairs....but we carry on. Sailing out from Whitehaven to Hamilton Island we have to negotiate large swell and wind, but finally, make safe anchorage at Cid Harbour. Murray catches a shark, we see two snakes and a goanna (lace monitor) while walking the track from Sawmill Beach on Whitsunday Island. The weather deteriorates and sadly no Dugongs to be seen at Dugong Beach, however we get drenched!
Special thanks to our sailing companions Tim and Deb off 'Karanga' for showing us some great snorkeling spots, and allowing us to tag along with them. We will miss you and hope you catch up to us again soon. Thanks to Deb for contributing some photos.

We see the strong winds (up to 42 knots) Lizard Island is renown for return. Our daily routine seems to be wake up, eat, walk uphill to Telstra Rock, do interweb stuff, walk downhill, eat, go for snorkel, eat, go to sundowners, eat, sleep, repeat.

Mid April we arrived at Great Keppel and had to hide out from the high winds for 2 weeks. Luckily we had a few calm days beforehand and we were able to snorkle the now derelict ubderwater observatory at Middle Keppel Island. This is now the habitat for many schools of fish and a few large cod.
A short walk from Fisherman's Bay to Shelving Beach is always a treat and then we spent the rest of the time sheltered on the East side in Second Beach.

We enjoyed a great night with close friends having drinks on the boat and then dinner at Coast Bar and Grill. Previous night was Murray's golf mates and partners as well but I forgot to video! Sorry.

A great start to the day, when we woke up to a Fish Frenzy beside our boat.
What a pleasure to witness this amazing phenomenon of nature.
Who can tell us what kind of fish they were?
Did Murray catch the fish or not!
Let us know what you think!

Episode 61 Week ending 11 April 2021
The sailing season has finally started (we actually head off earlier than most people). It is our intention to make it as far around Australia as the weather permits....however we do have to be in Melbourne for a family visit in August/September, so this will prevent us from making it to the Kimberleys this year.
