Final Fantasy XI #017, Konschtat Highlands: To White Mage Level 13

Previously, after unlocking the ability to set a support job, Heorot returned to Bastok and began leveling up the White Mage job. He got it all the way up to Level 9. Now, he will venture to the Konschtat Highlands for more leveling.
Heorot resumes at his Mog House in Bastok. Checking his delivery box, he receives wonderful payment for some of the crystals he put on auction. Someone must have really wanted a stack of Wind Crystals! Thank you, purchaser. When he is ready to go, he heads out to the Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 1:01):
In the markets, Heorot heads to Sororo's Scribe and Notary at H-5. From Sororo, he purchases a Scroll of Paralyna, usable by a Level 9 White Mage. He uses it to learn the White Magic spell Paralyna, which heals paralysis.
Afterwards, he heads back home for a moment.
Mog House (time 3:18):
At home, Heorot puts his Selbina Clay into storage. Personal inventory starts out so darn limited in this game, even compared to other MMOs.
Bastok Markets (time 3:50):
After teleporting closer to the West Gate, Heorot heads out to South Gustaberg.
South Gustaberg (time 4:37):
Heorot heads west from town. In the Fumaroles, he fights Maneating Hornets so he can wrap up a training regime to take out members of the bee family. In the process, he reaches Level 10 as a White Mage.
He moves on and takes the northwestern exit at E-7/E-6 to North Gustaberg.
North Gustaberg (time 16:00):
In the west part of North Gustaberg, Heorot heads north towards Konschtat Highlands. It is nice to see that the Republic of Bastok has regained control of its home region. Heorot sets his home point to the banner at E-7.
Then, he exits northwest at E-7 to the Konschtat Highlands in the Zulkheim region.
Konschtat Highlands (time 23:27):
In the Konschtat Highlands, Heorot treks to the Field Manual at F-11. He assumes Page 3's training regime to defeat 3 Rock Eaters and 3 Mist Lizards per session. He heads to the eastern clearing in the Aulgung Pass to find these beasties, notably the Rock Eaters. He even survives a trio of linking Mist Lizards. He also takes on the occasional Quadav.
Heorot eventually reaches Level 13 as a White Mage. In the process, he gets some more decent loot from the coffers that he succeeds in unlocking, including a Linen Robe equippable by many mage jobs at Level 12.
When he is done for now, Heorot heads to the Survival Guide at G-3 and teleports to the Bastok Mines in Bastok.

Previously, Heorot finished Bastok Mission 4-1: "Magicite". He finished gathering the Magicite from the beastman strongholds and brought it to the archduke in Jeuno, but it seems that the Shadow Lord is returning, anyway. To make matters worse, it seems that each of the three starting nations has been attacked! Fortunately, Heorot received the Airship Pass and reached Rank 5. Now, he will work on getting the Airship Pass for Kazham, which will allow him to fly to Kazham on Elshimo Island.
Heorot resumes in the Mog House in Jeuno. He heads out to Ru'Lude Gardens.
Ru'Lude Gardens (time 1:00):
Heorot previously found a Mog-Tablet in Meriphataud Mountains. So, he talks to the Explorer Moogle at H-9. The Explorer Moogle rewards him with Kupofried's Ring and a Nomad Moogle Statue. Cute.
Heorot teleports to Port Jeuno on the lowest level of the city.
Port Jeuno (time 3:10):
Port Jeuno is where all the Air Travel Agencies in the city are available. There are departures to San d'Oria, Bastok, Windurst, and Kazham. Heorot also wanders downstairs to the Chocobo Stables by accident.
The entrance to the Kazham Air Travel Agency is at J-8. Within the Departures Entrance, Heorot talks to Guddal at I-7. Heorot can buy an Airship Pass for Kazham for a "mere" 148,000 gil (*gag*). Or he can do the adventurers' deal, which as far as I can see has yet to expire. For the adventurers' deal, Heorot must find the Ghelsba Chest Key, the Palborough Chest Key, and the Giddeus Chest Key. These are carried by third-tier beastmen in Ghelsba, Palborough Mines, and Giddeus. This does not have an official quest listing.
Heorot already acquired a Palborough Chest Key in video #022 while trying to acquire Quadav Fetich parts, so he is already 1/3 done. These are dropped by third-tier Quadav in the Palborough Mines: Old Quadav, Brass Quadav, and Copper Quadav. They appear on the third floor of Palborough between the river and the exit to Waughroon Shrine.
Heorot teleports to Ru'Lude Gardens.
Ru'Lude Gardens (time 9:10):
Heorot heads into the Residential Area.
Mog House (time 9:43):
At home, Heorot withdraws his Palborough Chest Key from storage. Then, he heads back out.

Previously, the party began questing in Fort O'Virbus. After exploring the fort and gathering information, they carried out the standard quest "The New Inspector" for Ulrich. Now, they will continue questing in Fort O'Virbus.
The party resumes in the Tap-Dancing Nopon in Fort O'Virbus, Keves Castle Region. They skip travel to the Hovering Reef 2 Camp. There, they discuss the info "Leaders-in-Training", which they learned from Heath in Fort O'Virbus during the previous video. This starts the standard quest "Leaders in Training".
The party skip travels back to the Tap-Dancing Nopon in Fort O'Virbus. At the Guards' Training Yard, they approach the target marker for a scene with Pharod, Lutz, and Martina. Such confidence. The next objective is to hunt some Ropls at Ekdaso Verge.
The party skip travels to Ekdaso Verge in the northeast of the Syra Hovering Reefs. They hunt down ten Designated Ropls, which are three groups of Owja Ropls throughout the Ekdaso Verge. The first group is in the west near the bridge. The second group is in the north. The third group is in the east. When the party is done, they must return to Pharod.
After defeating the Designated Ropls, the party skip travels back to the Tap-Dancing Nopon in Fort O'Virbus. They approach the target at the Guards' Training Yard for another scene with Pharod and company. "Leaders in Training" complete!
The party turns in new Collectopaedia Cards for Pharod, Lutz, and Martina of Keves Castle. Their Keves Castle affinity reaches rank 4. They check around the fort for new dialogue.
At the Tap-Dancing Nopon, the party discusses the info "Curious Picture", which they learned near Propatheon Cathedral in Fort O'Virbus during the previous video. This starts the standard quest "An Artist".
North of the Tap-Dancing Nopon, the party talks to Stefaan outside Propatheon Cathedral. A cutscene takes place. His cap and his uniform clash, in my opinion. The party receives the K's Portrait key item. Time to get it appraised in the City. I kind of forgot about Consul K, but he was the one that made Colony 4 attack the party way back in Chapter 2.
The party skip travels to the Serene Square in the City. Just to the east, they talk to Wellwell for a cutscene sequence. Quite an appraisal!
The party skip travels back to the Tap-Dancing Nopon in Fort O'Virbus, Keves Castle Region. To the north, they talk to Stefaan for a cutscene. Next, they must bring a certain one of their Hero allies to serve as a model for his next painting.
With Fiona as the active Hero, the party talks to Stefaan for another scene. "An Artist" complete! The party learns the info "Portrait of a Consul".
At the Tap-Dancing Nopon, the party discusses "Portrait of a Consul" for bonus EXP. Afterwards, they check around the fort again.
Southwest of the Tap-Dancing Nopon, the party learns the info "Captain of the Guard" in Kismet Crossing. Discussing this will start a standard quest, so the party will do so later.
The party sets Melia as their current Hero and skip travels to the Grand Tower Walkway in the 4th Floor of Keves Castle. They go up the first Elevator. With Melia in the party, they can now go through the door to the west.
Up the Elevator beyond, they arrive in the Queen's Chambers secret area. Interesting!
The party skip travels to the Hovering Reef 2 Camp in the Syra Hovering Reefs. At the camp, Melia levels up to Level 91 to match the rest of the party.
The party saves. Next time, they will continue questing in Fort O'Virbus.

Previously, the party continued Colony 0's standard quests with "Prison Spring Clean". They then paid for level 2 of Li Garte Prison's refurbishment. Following that, they carried out the standard quest "Shut-In". Now, the party will finish refurbishing Li Garte Prison for Colony 0. Then, they will gather some more Soulhacker Arts and Skills. In the process, they will explore Cape Arcaphor in the east of the Erythia Sea.
The party resumes in the Central Cell in Li Garte Prison Camp, Cadensia Region. They explore the area for new dialogue. Note that No. 15 only shows his face at night, as No. 3 hints.
Then, they visit Wheelideeli. They pay him 100,000 G. After a scene, the prison reaches refurbishment level 3.
The Guard Quarters are upgraded. A Container is on the crates, but it seems inaccessible. The party skip travels to the Vent Entrance. They enter the vents and drop down the northeastern grate to reach the new Container.
The party visits Wheelideeli again. They pay him 130,000 G. After a scene, the prison reaches refurbishment level 4.
The Communal Cell Block is upgraded. The party finds a Container at the southern end of the Communal Cell Block catwalk.
The party visits Wheelideeli once more. They pay him 150,000 G. Oh, my aching wallet! After a scene, the prison reaches refurbishment level 5. Further additions are added to the Central Cell. It sounds like the upgrades are now complete.
The party finds a new Container at the southern end of the Central Cell catwalk. They will save it for later.
Unfortunately, Segiri's ascension quest will not be available until Chapter 7. So, the party will now hunt down unique monsters for more Soulhacker Arts and some Soulhacker Skills.
First, they skip travel to the Indiscreet Gombaba's grave in Millick Meadows, Aetia Region. Since Sena has reached Machine Assassin Rank 10, she switches back to Incursor for a while.
The party resurrects the Indiscreet Gombaba and defeats it again. Soulhacker learns the Master Art Sumo Press, a Smash skill.
Next, the party skip travels to the Phantasmagorical Rist's grave in the Cotte Trick Ruins, Great Cotte Falls, Pentelas Region. They resurrect the Phantasmagorical Rist and defeat it again. Soulhacker learns the Skill Physical Absorber, which boosts physical defense. Lanz equips it right away.
The party skip travels to the Budding Francis's grave in the Great Cotte Falls. They resurrect the Budding Francis and defeat it again. Soulhacker learns the Skill Spiritual Absorber, which boosts ether defense. Lanz equips it.
The party skip travels to the Hargan Point Camp in the Erythia Sea, Cadensia Region. They cook some Highly-Piley Ocean's Bounty.
They skip travel to Cascade Crossroads on Cape Arcaphor. On the beach to the south, they defeat some Desert Paguls and farm an Ether Sphere for HD Ether. A new Ether Sphere shows up southwest of the Atoll Ferronis Hulk.
On the southern beach, there is a Container.
In the toxic marsh cavern northeast of Cascade Crossroads, the party finds a Soldier's Husk.
Past the toxic marsh cavern, they take on the Covetous Gerondon, a Level 60 unique Rhana. Upon defeating it, Soulhacker learns the Class Art Aquaball.
The party ascends the climbing walls to a plateau. At a Skirmish between Muskul Gogols and a Highwind Moramora, they help the Gogols for Nopon Coins.
To the southwest, the party finds the Welkin Falls landmark. In the northeast of this area, they find a Container.
The party approaches the eastern falls and takes on the Otherworldly Rodsin, a Level 60 unique Marrin. It can summon Abyssal Medoozes. After defeating the Otherworldly Rodsin, Soulhacker learns the Master Art Jet Stream, which inflicts Blowdown.
The party returns northeast. They drop to a ledge with a Container.
The party drops to the inlet below. They fight the Talkative Dirakha, a Level 63 unique monster. I messed up the first chain attack a little bit; oh, well. Upon defeating the Talkative Dirakha, Soulhacker learns the Skill Deeply Tactical, which increases TP by 5 at the start of a chain attack. Lanz equips it.
The party skip travels to Hargan Point Camp and saves. They will do some more grinding next time.

Previously, the party began the quests for the Tale of Interwoven Bonds of Courage storyline. In Real Gran Zedora Castle, they talked to Commander Nogart and carried out Quest 260: "Toma's Whereabouts". Following a lead from Arahagiro, they explored the Real Pyramid in search of the Earth Dragons, a group of grave robbers. The party defeated their vicious pet, the Grave Digger, but unfortunately they learned no concrete information about the whereabouts of Toma's body. Several story quests opened up after this. The party will now continue the story with Quest 261, which starts at the Real Melun Watermill and leads to hot springs in the west of the continent.
Real Gran Zedora (time 0:30):
The party resumes in the church in the Kingdom of Real Gran Zedora. They go outside and Zoom to the Real Melun Watermill destination in the Real Melsandy Granaries.

The party enters the Real Melun Watermill at C-1.

In the main house at D-5, the party talks to Yakup. Yakup issues Quest 261: "Secret Hot Spring Flower", a quest in the Tale of Interwoven Bonds of Courage storyline. There is a hot spring in the Montcero Hot Spring Gorge southwest of the Koniwea Plain. He went there in his youth and found a beautiful girl at the caretaker's cabin. He hopes that the caretaker has a Hot Spring Flower, which will relieve his back pain. Before the party heads there, they must collect two items to take as payment: (1) a Pale Crimson Treasure Shell from the Real Kokolata Beach and (2) a White Plum Branch dropped by Sasquashes in the Real Koniwea Plain.
The party leaves the house and Zooms to the Real Kokolata Beach.
Real Kokolata Beach (time 8:48):
At C-3 on the beach, the party examines the sparkly spot. They acquire the Pale Crimson Treasure Shell (薄紅の宝貝) key item for Quest 261. They still need to get the White Plum Branch in the Real Koniwea Plain.
While in town, the party explores for treasure. At C-4, a barrel contains Mini Medal #200, counting the 61 Heorot has exchanged so far.
At the pub stall, a barrel at D-4 contains a Strong Antidote (上どくけしそう). A nearby barrel contains an Angel Bell (天使のすず).
On the deck of the Log House in the north, a pot at E-2 contains a Spellbound Bough (まほうの樹木). It seems the Log House is home to a maker of musical instruments. In fact, this is where the next story quest will begin.
On the southern beach, a red chest at B-6/B-7 contains a phial of Yggdrasil Dew (せかいじゅのしずく). At G-8, a barrel by the Stone Tower of Courage contains a Lucida Shard (ほしのカケラ).
The party exits northeast at F-2 to the Real Koniwea Plain.
Real Koniwea Plain (time 13:44):
The party emerges at B-3. They explore the area while they seek Sasquashes.
They use a Double Bubble and a Metal Perfume.
The party takes out a couple Metal Medleys (time 16:36).
In the northwest section of the zone, a black chest at C-3 contains 2 Agility Seeds (すばやさのたね). Anlucia and Raguas each use one.
In the eastern section of the zone, the party encounters Sasquashes (ビッグスロース) around E-3 near the big shipwreck. After a battle, they acquire the White Plum Branch (白梅の枝) key item for Quest 261. Now that they have both items, they must go to the caretaker's cabin in the Montcero Hot Spring Gorge, which is southwest of the Real Koniwea Plain.
On the northeastern beach, a black chest at F-1 contains a Blue Orb (ブルーオーブ).
The party enters the large shipwreck at E-4/F-4. A barrel at the base of the stairs contains 3 pieces of Faerie Fluff (妖精の綿花). However, the party has 99 pieces of Faerie Fluff right now, so they will have to come back to claim the container's contents.
On the hill west of the shipwreck, the party finds a randomly spawned blue chest at E-4 with a Dragon Bone (ドラゴンのホネ).
In the southwestern section of the zone, the party goes south through the tunnel at C-6. In the shipwreck at C-7, a barrel contains Mini Medal #201. Outside the shipwreck, a black chest at C-6/C-7 contains 2 Seeds of Therapeusis (しんこうのたね). Fura and Raguas each use one.
Note that the party can also encounter Sasquashes in the southwestern section of the zone.
On the hill at B-5, a red chest contains 2 Dragon Horns (ドラゴンのツノ).

Continuing their hunt of Final Mix-exclusive Heartless, the party focuses their efforts on the Stealth Soldier, found in Hollow Bastion. Stealth Soldiers make their presence known in the Grand Hall at the very top of the castle.
The party has barely started their hunting when Donald reaches Level 65 and earns a Strength boost (time 0:44).
Stealth Soldiers are Soldier-like Heartless, but they are invisible when they enter the area. However, they can be targeted (time 0:59). Casting Stop on them makes them visible briefly. They have a chance to drop an Energy Stone when defeated. And as if that weren't a good enough reason to hunt here, Defenders drop Elixirs.
After defeating the first Stealth Soldier, Sora reaches Level 68 and earns a boost to Max AP (time 1:19).
Soon after, Goofy reaches Level 67 and earns a Max HP boost (time 3:22).
A little later, Donald reaches Level 66 and gains a Defense boost (time 5:03).
A short time later, Sora reaches Level 69, earns a Defense boost, and learns Ripple Drive (time 5:54).
Not long after, Goofy reaches Level 68 and gains a Max AP boost (time 7:39).
After collecting the needed Energy Stones from the Stealth Soldiers, the party heads to Monstro (time 11:04). In the Stomach above the Throat, the party can find the Grand Ghost (time 12:07). If Sora uses a restorative item on this ghost, it may drop one or more Frost Stones. Giving it a Megalixir provides a 100% drop chance, but using Elixirs is probably more practical. It is a good idea to save first so the Elixirs don't go to waste.

Previously, Heorot continued grinding in Escha - Ru'Aun. He has earned a total of 132 Job Points as Red Mage. In this video, he will do some more Job Point grinding as Red Mage in Escha - Ru'Aun.
Heorot resumes in his Mog House in Bastok. He picks up a Merit Point upgrade. In his delivery box, he receives gil for a Light Cluster and two Plutons that sold at auction. Many thanks to the buyers!
Then, he heads out to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 1:43):
Heorot teleports to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.
Misareaux Coast (time 2:06):
Heorot arrives at Home Point #1 at G-5. Up the hill, he examines the Undulating Confluence at G-5 to enter Escha - Ru'Aun.
Escha - Ru'Aun (time 2:41):
Heorot arrives at H-11. After summoning his Trust NPCs, he hunts some more Eschan Il'aern in this zone. A holiday event is boosting experience, limit, and capacity points earned.
Heorot accrues 4 Job Points for an overall total of 136 Job Points earned. He has a current total of 6 Job Points.
When he has finished for now, he uses the Undulating Confluence at H-11 to return to Misareaux Coast, Tavnazian Archipelago.
Misareaux Coast (time 1:07:03):
Heorot arrives at G-5. Just down the hill to the west, he uses Home Point #1 at G-5 to teleport to Port Jeuno.
Port Jeuno (time 1:07:55):
Heorot trades his Crests to Shami at H-8 for storage.
Then, he teleports to Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 1:09:49):
Heorot trades his Copper A.M.A.N. Voucher to Isakoth at E-11. In Mjoll's Goods, he sells his loot to Olwyn at E-11.
Then, he teleports to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 1:11:26):
At the auction house, Heorot puts three Plutons up for sale.
Afterwards, he enters the residential area.
Mog House (time 1:13:13):
Heorot signs off. Next time, he will continue grinding.

Previously, Heorot did some leveling as Black Mage in Cape Teriggan and reached Level 78. In this video, he will do some more leveling as Black Mage in Cape Teriggan.

Heorot arrives at Home Point #1 at F-5. After summoning his Trust NPCs, he continues the Page 5 Individual Training to defeat 4 Sand Cockatrices and 5 Greater Manticores per training regime.
Sand Cockatrices and Greater Manticores can be found in the unmapped northwestern portion of the zone. Davilas also defeats Frostmane, an NM Greater Manticore.
In the course of training, Heorot reaches Black Mage Level 79.
When he has finished, Heorot Warps to Bastok Markets.
Bastok Markets (time 56:48):
Heorot trades his Copper A.M.A.N. Voucher to Isakoth at E-11. In Mjoll's Goods, he sells his loot to Olwyn at E-11.
Then, Heorot teleports to Bastok Mines.
Bastok Mines (time 58:20):
At the auction house, Heorot puts a stack of Wind Crystals up for sale.
Then, Heorot enters the residential area.
Mog House (time 59:57):
Heorot signs off. Next time, he will continue grinding.

Previously, the party carried out Quest 164 in Rakkaran and unlocked the Gladiator vocation. The party did some leveling, and Heorot reached Gladiator Level 40. Now, the party will begin working on the Gladiator vocation quest line.
Glen (time 0:28):
The party resumes in the church in Glen Castle Town. They go outside and Zoom to Rakkaran.
Rakkaran (time 3:25):
The party enters the Coliseum at B-6. They go down the stairs at D-7 to the basement pub. There, they talk to Jacob at F-8. Jacob issues Quest 165: "Secret Coliseum Menu", the first Gladiator vocation quest. The prerequisite is to reach Gladiator Level 10. After Heorot accepts the quest, there is a scene with a couple other fighters, Valquez and Gordon. The next objective is to talk to Clark on the first floor and participate in a knockout battle.
The party goes up to the first floor and talks to Clark, a man wearing sunglasses at E-5. Heorot will have to get through three battles back-to-back on his own without help from his allies. Let's get it on!
A scene takes place when Heorot enters the arena. His first opponent is a Foo Dog (あばれこまいぬ). Nothing too threatening at Heorot's level. Heorot's HP and MP are restored at the end of the battle.
After another scene, Heorot faces his second opponent, a Powie Yowie (イエティ). Aside from a foul move on the part of the Powie Yowie, Heorot wins with little trouble. Heorot's HP and MP are restored at the end of the battle.
Another scene takes place. Then, Heorot faces his third opponent, a Knight Errant (よろいのきし). No problem, aside from its high defence.
At the end of the third battle, Heorot receives a base of 400 experience points.
A cutscene sequence takes place after the battles. Unfortunately, there is a little "accident"! The good news is that a masked person is on hand to help. The next objective is to report to Jacob in the basement pub.
The party regains control in the lobby. They go down the stairs at D-7 to the basement pub.
There, they talk to Jacob at F-8 for a scene. Quest 165 complete! The party earns the Gladiator Armour Lower (バトマスアーマー下). They also meet another Gladiator, Sains. Heorot equips the Gladiator Armor Lower when he gains control.
The party talks to Jacob at F-8 again for a scene. Despite having the quest marker, Jake does not issue the next quest himself but tells the party to visit a certain fan in the Mogare Cave in the Mogarim Highway.
The party leaves the Coliseum and Zooms to the Mogare Camp in Mogarim Highway.
Mogarim Highway (time 20:13):
The party arrives at the Mogare Camp at C-3. They make their way northeast and across the bridge.
On the hill at E-1, a red chest contains an Evac-u-bell (おもいでのすず).
The party enters the Mogare Cave (モガレの洞くつ) on ground level at D-1/E-1.
Mogare Cave (time 22:02):
The party starts at B-8 in the southwest. They encounter some of the enemy types as they go through this cave.
At D-4, a red chest contains 3 Supple Branches (しなやかな枝).
Raguas reaches Level 67 and earns 14 skill points for a total of 16. Under Bows, he spends 10 points on the ability Darkness Shot (ダークネスショット).
At E-3, a red chest contains 3 Single Phials (まほうの小ビン).
The party takes the northern door at E-1 to the Deepest Mogare Hall. Within, they meet the mysterious Agent. The Agent issues Quest 166: "Moonlight Flower Picking". The prerequisites are to complete Quest 165, reach Gladiator Level 15, and talk to Jacob to learn about this quest. Heorot must finish off three Direlogs (ウッディアイ) with the Clap Trap (とうこん討ち) ability to acquire Moonlight Flowers of three colors. Direlogs appear in the Mogare Cave.
The party regains control in the Deepest Mogare Hall. They take the door at D-7/E-7 and return to the main cave.
From about F-5 to E-1, the party can encounter Direlogs (ウッディアイ). After Heorot finishes one off with the Clap Trap (とうこん討ち) ability, the party obtains the Red Moonlight Flower (赤い月光の花) key item.
After Heorot defeats another Direlog with Clap Trap, the party obtains the White Moonlight Flower (白い月光の花) key item.
Finally, Heorot defeats another Direlog with Clap Trap, and the party obtains the Blue Moonlight Flower (青い月光の花) key item. They now have all three Moonlight Flowers. The next destination is the Deepest Mogare Hall.
